Singer David Gray has warned that US interrogators playing loud music as a form of torture - including his own song Babylon - is no laughing matter.
According to the BBC: David Gray's track Babylon is reportedly a favourite of US interrogators in Iraq.
The singer, whose breakthrough track got to number 5 in the UK chart in 2000, said the music isn't the thing: "it could be Tchaikovsky's finest or it could be Barney the Dinosaur ... it really doesn't matter, it's going to drive you completely nuts."

I think those nasty torture men should send him a video response.
'Please forgive me...' -

I'm just going to throw this one out there... I actually think White Ladder is a good album. True it's been overplayed to death and he's a bit cheesy but there's some good songs on there!
'Sail Away' is a good song. Here's an MP3 of it live. There's even people cheering on it and people don't cheer bad things, so with that irrefutable logic it must be a good song. No?

I think I would rather face conventional forms of torture like water boarding than be forced to listen to 'White Ladder' at high volume. There needs to be a new UN resolution to deal with kind of barbaric and inhumane treatment.

how loud are we talking?

Naomi Klein's 'Shock Doctorine' lists endless methods of torture carried by US interrogators abroad. The controversy over waterboarding too has bombarded U.S news for almost a year.
Watch on..-

This got voted as the worst cover ever (by word, or Q mag I believe)
Bon scott must be turning in his grave.
Though...i didn’t realise back in black was the 2nd best selling album in history...! (and just above the bodyguard, so there’s hope yet). -

for me, this song would definitely make me talk. imagine it blaring out at full volume. there'd be no need for the waterboarding... i'd talk in a second.
especially if i was forced to watch the video too-

Here is a great article which explores the phenomenon of music as torture, including what the composer of the Barney theme tune thinks about his song being used in this way by US interrogators.
