The Serious Organised Crime Agency (soca) - Britain's answer to the FBI - is facing accusations of racism after it was revealed that a senior white officer dressed up in black-face makeup in order to play the role of an African official in a recruitment video.

Clearly no one was thinking when they decided to go ahead with that idea...

  • This is the first time I've heard of soca, go ahead, point and laugh if you will, but if this is the first time that other people have heard of it, then they haven't gotten off to the best of starts have they?

  • I'm a fan of Soca, I particularly like Byron Lee & the Dragonaires, and Lord Kitchener.

Wait, this story isn't about calypso music is it?

  • For us here in the US, a white man painting his face black drums up bad memories. Don't really know what the civil rights experience looked like over there, but I'm willing to bet, blissful ignorance had something to do with this black face make-up screw up. I really doubt they're intention was to offend...at least I hope not.

  • I have relatives that live in England and they have the same racial problems that we do over here. My cousin said that a white manager at his job said the N word in front of everyone and was not fired or demoted. So this does not surprise me.

    Ass holes are everywhere.

  • Thank you Hollywood. Thank you D.W. Griffifth for "FACE OF A NATION". Thank you SOCA for being late to the table of racism in denial. Kiss my Black AZZ!

  • Did they get Robert Downy Jr.?

  • INtolerance is every where, people think it is just an american problem but its a global problem.

  • lol...they would be saying the same stuff if they used a real black guy. I think they only problem would be if he actually used stereotypes when impersonating a black person.
EDIT: and to be clear about this, I am not implying that I am okay with the fact that they immediately thought "oh a criminal is a black person", and then went through as much trouble as to DRESS UP AS ONE.

  • .......racisim......creationism.......evolutionism......dwarwinism.....bigotrism......masochisim....some words (and ideals) really just need to fall away so we can get on with the growth factor of humankind. We are only holding ourselves back to reaching the plane of existence in which ideals and prejudisms such as these will be a thing of the past! Isnt it time we ALL GREW UP?

  • If people are taking it so seriously, then I should go accuse my director of sexism for casting a man to play a womens part....whats the difference between that, and a white man playing the part of a african american?
    24ciao7
  • well he's definitely not an african american!

always thought that that was a funny term, then Obama came along who actualy is African American and he's white!

  • if i painted my face white..
    would anyone get mad??????

  • lol, so how is trying to be a black person racist against them?

  • How is this racist?

Dave Chappelle puts on makeup to look like a white guy and it's funny as hell.

The Michael Richards thing was racist, this is just a white guy with makeup on.

    Get over it.
