The body of a Brazilian priest who tried to break a record for flying suspended by helium balloons was found in the Atlantic Ocean near Rio de Janeiro more than two months after he disappeared.

After rising as high as 20,000 feet soon after takeoff, he was blown backward out to sea where pieces of some of the dozens of balloons he used to lift himself into the air were later found.
After he called for help from port authorities in Paranagua, a search was launched but he was never heard from again. His body was found about 700 kilometers (435 miles) northeast of where he went missing on April 20.

Maybe he can still hold the record for "body found furthest from where reported missing".

Didn't stuff like this happen in the 1800's? Am I in some kind of time warp?

This is sad, maybe he should have avoided the coast? Seems like common sense if yo have no steering.
Kent Couch has just completed a 200 mile trip across the Oregon desert in a similar contraption.

Iam glad that they found his body.People were thinking that he just disappeared of the face of the earth. My sympathy goes to his wife and family.
-
Where the hell did they think he went for so long, and shit 20k feet. That almost half way to jesus.
-
Did he at least break the record?
-
i saw his pre take off interview on the news this morning. He said decended by using a gun to take out however many balloons needed. He also said it was less dangerous than other things, because it didn't need as many buttons.
everything thing about this trip sounded dangerous.
The reporter brought up that his wife thought he was crazy... he responded "well she married me, so i can't be that crazy."
hummmm.... -
Man, the date 4/20 always means something bad one way or another.
-
red bull may give you wings, but jesus apparently doesn't.

Betico,
Please tell me more. I love to hear from experts. -
I think that is a great way to go.
-
i say f'him if you do something that f'ing stupid. its kind of like natural selection, the guy who flys in helium ballons doesn't live to reproduce. dumbass
