So, let us set a new table for our nation, upon which we place the Constitution and where we demand that all those who have taken an oath to defend it .. keep their promise and protect our nation from the threat within.

Got this yesterday from another peace activist.
If the present Congressional leadership says "impeachment is off the table", we need
a new table and new leadership.
The "high crimes and misdemeanors" of George W. Bush and Dick Cheney require impeachment under our U.S. Constitution. To fail to impeach them is a failure of each Representative and Senator in Congress of their sworn oath of office to "protect and defend the Constitution."
Sign the petition, but also, call, write, email your Congress people and Senators to fulfill their oath to protect and defend the Constitution" and their obligation to impeach Bush/Cheney for crimes against the People. -

I truly believe Kucinich loves this country and knows that what is going on here is wrong...he is a true patriot.....Bush and his crew have lied to us time and time again..broke laws and wasted money..they cant keep getting away with this. they should pay for their crimes..*sigh*

I'm old and jaded, and when I hear quotes from Lincoln and the Battle Hymn of the Republic, I say to myself "Bah, another politician going for the gut level response."
But as I understand the message, I realize that, Yes, this is a civil war, a war fought against lies. A war fought FOR the constitution.
And if we lose, we lose the essence that IS the USA. Forever.
So, bring on the Lincoln quotes! Bring on the Battle Hymn. Bring on the Sousa Music too, if that helps get people fired up to put our foot down and hold these fiends accountable for their actions, their lies, and their malicious intent. -
The more I learn about Dennis Kucinich.....the more I like him......I believe America has outgrown the need for a figurehead.....it could all be run on computers with the people actually running the show....lotteries to decide who gets to host dinners at the White House......also change some words around....no more Congress.....Progress......don't taint the word peach.....what about...... dohangem......when the truth finally surfaces about this circus where Bush and Cheney are only selling peanuts.....impeachment will not be your first choice......what would John Wayne do?........Please sign the petition and hope someone counts them.....Golden Ruler......Johnnie Hargrave

I'll sign any petition for impeachment. Meanwhile, I write a letter to the White House every month (sometimes more often), demanding that Bush step down. I write the same letter to each of my U.S. Senators and members of congress like Nancy Pelosi - people derelict of the sworn oaths and responsibility to the U.S. public. I recommend that everyone do the same.
This is, in the final analysis, the public's fault. It's our fault because the storm of protest isn't loud enough. It's that simple.-

Lame.
If he is true to his word then he would not only want Bush gone but every single person in Congress. Because who has a lower approval rating than Bush?
Congress.
And as he said lying is a reason to impeach and who has lied more than Bush than Congress?
Is there a reset button? Because I'll gladly sign that petition to hit that button and delete this person and his graveling, political pandering speech along with the rest of the government; and start over we should. -
HAHA i mean theres some solid news about humanism and such on here but impeach him for the war that kerry and clinton voted for!?!? yeah. i mean he clearly knew there were no WMD's right? it wasnt his advisors or anything who gave him his information...theres a reason the war was voted in and thats because we were in a state of devastation from 9/11 and we had every right to go out there and try to track them down. "the only way for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing" - refers exactly to sadaam. i mean i can see if you guys are still upset about gore losing the election, no matter what excuses you make, he didnt win. and the best part is that you guys complained of how gore won the popular vote and didnt get in! and then hillary wins the popular vote and noone even mentions that!

The bush/cheney cabal have been at it so long and have done so much destruction to this country, it's economy, to the Constitution, and robbed the people, that I don't understand how anyone could still be fooled into believing in these scumbags and their Rovian ways...

While I whole-heartedly support the efforts of Rep.Kucinich and everyone signing the petition,(I just did myself) ,I hope everyone remembers that our current problems run deeper than just bush & co.Corp.greed,political apathy,unbridled corp.money in politics are just a few of the issues that WE THE PEOPLE need to deal with.Our "elected" representatives have failed us long enough.If they refuse to do the work that needs doing then maybe it's time we took matters into our own hands.TO THE STREETS!!!!

Signed. It's too bad that momentum for impeachment is only now starting to build. Kucinich and others have been arguing forcefully for impeaching Bush AND Cheney for over a year (see Bill Moyers). Holding this administration accountable is too important to give up now though.
I agree with Julie that future generations will look back on this time as a critical one, although I believe the abuses committed under Bush are far more dangerous to our democracy than what happened with Watergate. It's pretty clear at this point that Bush is the worst, most criminal president in modern history.
But for me, this isn't about revenge or punishment, or even about Bush/Cheney. It's about ensuring that the precedent isn't set for future administrations to blatantly violate the Constitution and abuse power in the way that this one has. If we don't stand up now, power will continue to consolidate at the top year after year until we do.
P.S. We impeached Clinton for lying about a BJ. -
i have no love for bush, but i have to wonder what would be accomplished by his impeachment at this point with the election so relatively close? who would replace him? and how many of our tax dollars would be used? by the time the impeachment is completed, is the money spent worth shaving just a couple months of Bush's term?

Thanks Kucinich! I'll sign the petition but I must confess, I'm wondering what took so long. Bush was clearly a criminal a LONG time ago, early in his campaign. I wish this would have happened sooner.

You know, if you people believed in the constitution and the betterment of our nation, you'd try looking at research and realizing who the real people are that like to send America's head to the chopping block.

The impeachment is not so much to shorten Bush's term (although that's a nice perk) but rather to hold criminals accountable for their actions, prove that wealthy politicians are not above the law, and show the world that we do not support our president's illegal actions. Oh, and public humiliation. To publicly humiliate Bush and his cronies.
And for those who think Kucinich just whipped this out a few days ago...you should know he has been working on this for over a year. -

Care to elaborate? I think many of us are arguing here that Bush's presidency has done real and lasting harm to American democracy and our standing in the global community. This isn't to say there aren't other, more obvious threats out there. But the chances of our government being overthrown and replaced by al-Qaeda or another terrorist organization are nonexistent. As the founders of this country realized, the most pressing threat to the American way of life will come from leaders hellbent on consolidating power at the expense of our democracy. -
Even though I know nothing will come of this because Nancy Pelosi has consistantly said that she would not put up impeachment for a vote, I still signed it; I think Kucinich is one of the few people in this world who actually stands by his convictions.
