China is keen to avoid domestic unrest as it counts down to the Beijing Olympics, in order to ensure the success of the Games and to portray itself as a harmonious nation to the world.
But thousands of people in a rural county in southwest China took to the streets over the weekend — some mobbing government offices and setting ablaze police vehicles — after a schoolgirl died in suspicious circumstances.
On Tuesday, a man went on a rampage in a police station in Shanghai, stabbing six officers to death and wounding several more before he was stopped, local media reported.
The suspect, an unemployed 28-year-old man, sought revenge for an interrogation last year in which he was suspected of bicycle theft, the official Xinhua news agency said.

i dont know how much true worry there must be about mr w bush hanging out far away, for so long, during the last months of his presidency.
also, this "documentary" ( http://current.com/items/88980973_ ) has more info about the importance of dates and numbers, through out history.
i wish this olympics were boycotted by the athletes.
