Sniffer dogs to wear bootees so to not offend Muslims

Is apparently the latest move to try and find a solution after controversy developed over Tayside Police using a picture of a puppy for an advertising campaign and reports of a group of Muslims refusing to be searched by a sniffer dog at Brighton station last week.

A dogs saliva is considered the only part of the animal to be unclean or impure in Islamic teaching and it is forbidden to keep the animals as pets.

From The Mail:

"Under proposals by the Association of Chief Police Officers, they will be made to wear leather bootees in cases where Muslims object to having them in their home. Bootees are already used when sniffer dogs enter mosques."

  • I got no problem with this. I know it seems strange to us, all these bazaar religious customs in relation to dogs.

    But what about UK Sunday trading laws ... why

    Separate kitchens for Jews to cook with dairy and meat.

    Just respect it, is it that much of a hardship. Some booties?

    These stories are playing on the current war climate, but are slightly fascist in their tilt.

  • This is ridiculous, but I go along with Jimmy_Underdog - it's always the same old papers reporting this sort of thing, like its some sort of affront to the entire nation to be respectful.
