How America is snooping on Brits and Europeans ... and may soon be snooping a whole lot more

This is totally outrageous. The USA does NOT have jurisdiction beyond its borders, neither does it have sovereignty beyond its borders. The Bush administration must have either bribed, blackmailed or issued dire threats against Gordon Brown and the leaders of most of the European Union countries to obtain their cooperation in something which is totally illegal and against the constitutions of all those countries. I am hopping mad...

    • I can imagine the Bush administration doing a great many stupid things, including threatening the EU with one thing or another.

One thing they will not have done is threaten the EU with a nuclear attack, that is a bridge too far on the insanity trail.

It would severely damage European American relations, something which neither party would want, especially in these times of economic strain.

    • J_Jammer, it could simply have been Bush threatening war or a nuclear attack - something he is quite capable of doing, which the EU leaders (those who aren't his whores) know full well and fear.

    • --- ‘The safeguards are so minimal they might as well not exist,’ Bunyan said. ‘I’ve yet to see an occasion where Europe has refused American demands. They are in effect the 28th member of the EU.’ ---

and people think America has lost it's power. They may have the EU dollar over there, but they still seem to think America holds the reigns of the world.

I would have loved to be a fly on that wall with these negotiations. I want to know what was said to make the entire EU comply with America's demands. Compromise was used but was it even such? I doubt that very much.

    • squidteeth, just because you don't like it doesn't mean it is total bullshit. See http://tinyurl.com/5lzkx2 - please abstain from qualifying what I post by calling it bullshit, I don't post bullshit, it is not my style, and I verify the news that I post before posting it.

Oh, and my name begins with a capital V.

    • From the article:

"She especially wanted to know whether she had unjustly been deemed ‘high-risk’ under a scheme known as ATS, the Automated Targeting System."

There is an Automated Targeting System?
