Live Earth One Year Ago

Last year on 7/7/07 I attended the Live Earth concert in East Rutherford, Nj. It was a day of environmental awareness and great music, and left an impression on my teenage son to live a more sustainable life. Since that time I have been wondering about all of the other people who attended Live Earth around the world. Did they take the pledge? Have they lived by it? And while some have chosen to pan this concert simply because Al Gore put it together, I will say that it was a great attempt to raise awareness of this crisis and I truly hope people got the message.

So thanks again Mr. Gore and Kevin Wall for bringing us Live Earth. Hopefully it didn't end with the concert last year and some were brought to that higher level of consciousness. Anyway, this is a video from Giants Stadium where I was of the last performance by Roger Waters, which was one of my favorites.

  • Here at TouchArt in Santa Fe, we think of everyday as Earth Day and try a bit everyday to lighten our footprint on the earth.
Every Mother's Day, my 4 grown children get us fruit trees and plant them now, when the summer monsoons bring late afternoon coolness and clouds with rain that helps them get rooted.
Today, I cleaned floors, windows, kitchen and bathroom with vinegar and water that is safer for the earth and cheaper too.
We conserve, re-use, give-away and recycle everything we can.
We still use too much energy and have a long way to go. But each step helps, and when millions make little changes, miracles happen.
Most important, throughout the day, I praise and thank the Creator for the beauty of our earth and thank the earth for giving us everything we need to live.

  • From Rothera/British Antarctic Survey station on Adelaide island, Antarctica. This song was written and sung by the scientists at the station specifically for Live Earth. The first rock concert from Antarctica thus spreading Live Earth to all continents simultaneously.

  • Touch Art: I too have cut out all chemicals in my home and my energy usage has also gone down since last year as well as my purchasing of plastic packaging, and I buy local whenever I can. I conserve, preserve, and do all I can to walk lightly on this planet. When we realize what a truly rare and precious gift this Earth is it is then easy to live our lives in harmony with her. Thanks for all that you do.

  • I think that the boys or men i should say, of Pink Floyd have always looked after the youth. Their lyrics and music let one know what to expect from life. So the fact that Roger Waters played a charitable event isn't too unusual.

  • I enjoyed the Live Earth Concert.

Thought the media coverage of it was biased and tried to play down its impact.

Thanks JanforGore for posting this, for walking your talk and reminding everyone how each person can make a difference.
