According to the New Scientist, the U.S. military has developed a non-lethal microwave weapon that creates sound inside your head.The device – dubbed MEDUSA (Mob Excess Deterrent Using Silent Audio) – uses microwaves which interact with your ears and creates irritating noises. Such auditory effects could cause "discomfort or even incapacitation" but are heard by the recipient only.
MEDUSA is aimed for military or crowd-control applications but it is still not clear whether its employment may cause substantial neural damage.
