Progress in the Church of England? Women are now viable as Clergy, Bishops and laity. the Church will face a rising group of Anglicans who disagree with the inclusion of females and homosexuals.

LONDON — The governing body of the Anglican Church in Britain voted on Monday to approve the appointment of women as bishops, a step that appeared to risk a schism in the church in its historic homeland as the Anglican church worldwide faces one of the most serious threats to its unity in its history, over the ordination of gay clergy members.

After a debate late into the night in the city of York, the General Synod of the Church of England, an assembly that holds ultimate authority on church doctrine in Britain, voted by comfortable margins within each of the synod’s three houses — bishops, clergy and laity — to approve the consecration of women as bishops in the face of bitter opposition from traditionalists.

The vote came 16 years after the synod voted, after similarly fractious debate, to approve the ordination of women as ministers within the British church. But traditionalists unreconciled to the end of the male monopoly within the clergy revived the battle over the issue of approving women as bishops, warning that it could lead to a breakup of the church in Britain.

  • It's a great step in the right direction, yet will continue to be fought by the dominant male elders. The good news is that, because it's such a worthy cause, attitudes will gradually soften and change as those still in charge retire and are replaced by more open-minded, common sense based, clergy leaders. The, so called, break-up of the church is why many came from Europe to the US to express their religious freedoms in the first place. They were fleeing from prosecution and persecution by an out-dated, unbending, fear mongering power structure.
Hopefully, we'll see this bold stand for fresh approaches unfold even faster in US politics as the, "...masses yearning to breathe free...", have more of a say by voting out the dictatorial powers that be who, ultimately, only serve themselves.

  • The Church of England has never really been in great harmony with women, since it was founded on the back of Henry VIII's desire to divorce and then execute his wife.

  • This is political and financial not religious. The new regime is taking over, and ousting the religious people who want to worship God the way their mothers and fathers taught them.

If they choice to stay they will be preached about how the gays and woman were mistreated in this very church. In order to force them out of the church of their forefathers, but what about the money.

The wealth of the church will go to support gay, and feminist agenda. The purpose of this take over is not religious, it is financial. Maybe, the Vatican will have the last laugh after all.
