Bill Cliton was proud to be called "The black president". Would Obama be proud to be called
"The gay president"

While Obama keeps proclaming that he wants to bring the country together, he has no hesitation to insult 70% of the American voters by saying first that marriage is between a man and woman and at the same time courting the gay activists lobby by opposing a California constitutional amendment that would do exactly the opposite of what Obama is saying when he is not in San Francisco

Is this typical of Politician double talk or lawyers white lies ? It is both

His arrogance in treating people that value traditional marriage as stupid is for every one to see.

On May 15th, we experienced another "Pearl Harbour" with the hijacking of the California constitution by 4 activist judges.

On November 4th, we will have an Hiroshima moment with positive votes on a constitutional amendment that will recognize that marriage is between a man and woman in California, Florida and Arizona.

Mr Obama should know that you do not create peace and harmony by supporting a minority of radical homosexual activists that want to destroy marriage.

They could have all the benefits they want with civil unions but have decided to declare a cultur war on America instead.

Mr Obama who opposes the war in Iraq and want to end it after somebody else did the job is supporting this one.

He is on the wrong side of history

  • Yes, Obama is a doubletalker. He's a politician after all.
And how and why exactly do the evil gay people plan to destroy marriage?

  • soleil10, You have a twisted view of the world. Why in the world do you dwell on homosexuality? You have such a hatred it seems that you would tire of constantly thinking about it. As for your title it is off base and should be removed. It is offensive in that it is a lie. How do you think Gay marriage threatens straight marriage? I'm certain my husband is not going to run off and become gay if all people are afforded equal rights. So why worry?

  • You disgust me. And I am glad to support a president who supports equality in civil rights, you should think about it too.

  • Marriage is a human right.

Everyone, whether straight or gay, should have the right to marry if they so choose.

Gay marriage is a civil rights issue.

I've been married for 29 years to the same man that I've lived with for 35 years and raised 4 children. Our gay and lesbian friends who have been together for decades and done a great job of raising their children should have the same human right to marriage as we do.

    Human rights for everyone.

  • Barack is not hypocrite. Saying you believe 'marriage is between a man and a women' and forcing that belief on others are two different things. The correct expression is not 'double talk' but rather 'live and let live'. Thank you Obama for understanding everyone has a right to marriage.

  • Gay marriage is forcing a belief on others

They know what marriage mean to millions and millions of people. They do not care. They are doing with spite in order to create a confrontation and later on act as victims.

Obama is forcing gay marriage on people. It is not the other way around

  • if you don't like gay marriages, don't get one. the anglican church, a christian church, might split on the issue of homosexuality. but is anyone being forced to join that church or get married to a person of the same sex? didn't think so. civil rights aren't a popularity contest.

  • Soleil, This seems to be a crusade for you. May I suggest a wearing sandwich board and going public with your views? I think you might have more luck finding someone that agrees with you.
  • I do not like the word crusade.

Why use a sandwich board, when we have the internet and more ?

    Many people agree with me.

Unfortunatly America may end up like Canada and freedom of speech will be limited

  • You know, soleil, the most virulently anti-gay people are often reacting to a psychological conflict, where they have these urges that conflict with their beliefs and they direct their extreme self-loathing at others.

Think Ted Haggard, Micheal Savage, and Larry Craig.

soleil, why don't you just love yourself so that you can love others?

  • Also, I hope Barack Obama becomes an "honorary gay" in a similar sense to how Bill Clinton became known as an "honorary black," through advocacy and support of the gay community, although I'd prefer it not be the superficial and phony way Clinton did it (playing saxophone on Arsenio but kicking poor, single black mothers off of welfare).

  • Soleil the Crusader! The right wing have never stopped the crusades. They've more or less admitted to it in Iraq,(spreading christianity...er, uh....democracy) but it's really for oil.

  • I am not promoting violence. I am just giving an early warning of were the whole culture clash is going.

Yes I believe that same sex attractions can be reversed. Our mind should be subject over our bodies. It is not supposed to be the other way around.
For that someone needs a new belief system. He or she has to change his or her environment too.

Equal treatment of persons living the homosexual lifestyle is a completely different issue than redefining marriage.

It is not your choice to redefine an institution essential to the social welfare and common good such that these benefits are nullified.

The demand for SSM is not about equal dignity and treatment but rather social affirmation of a particular lifestyle

For example, water is what it is by virtue of it possessing a particular chemical structure (two atoms of hydrogen combined with one of oxygen). The possession of these essential characteristics is what defines and distinguishes water from every other liquid. You might attempt to define water by some other characteristic, i.e., fluidity. However, while fluidity is certainly a characteristic of water, it is not essential to defining water. If we were to exchange the essential feature—chemical structure—for the nonessential feature, you can imagine the problems that would result. You might receive a glass of gasoline in response to a request for water!

This is analogous to redefining marriage apart from its essential characteristics. Human procreation is essential to marriage. Procreative acts are biologically exclusive to male and female conjugation. In the event children are realized, marriage represents and reinforces society’s expectation that the mother and father will remain committed to the rearing and care of those children.

This also represents the natural family structure for human beings. Suffice it to say, marriage, strictly defined, serves a vital social interest that rests ultimately on the welfare of children and not the self interests of adults. Thus marriage cannot be redefined apart from its essential role in regulating human procreative potential.

  • "The concept of equal right(s) [sic] is just bogus."

Yeah, I know that's how you feel about equal rights. And my lifestyle is already dominant, despite the paranoid and nonsensical ramblings of people like you, Fox Noise, and talk radio that the straight white male is the most oppressed and maligned creature in the land. That's your problem. You don't understand empathy. I care about equal rights and social justice not because my rights are threatened (although all of our civil and Constitutional rights are under constant assault), but because I see others oppressed and mistreated and I know it is not right.

If your marriage is so weak and pathetic that it can't handle other people marrying against your bigoted sensibilities than it is not a legitimate marriage. With a divorce rate of around 50% and many economic and social pressures undermining marriages and families, the fact that you're worried about what those gays you see on the TV (and they might even live down the street!) are doing is absurd.

I don't see the point of pointing out the many states that have discrimination written into their laws. Many states used to ban interracial marriage, but that doesn't make it right. It will take sometime for the lousy bigots on the Supreme Court to die (or even step down, if they have more grace than the pill-poppin' Rehnquist), but eventually some decent and open-minded people will recognize that the Constitution means equal protection for all

"Law of sexual extinction"? "Law of the universe"? Do you have any idea what you're talking about? Gay people have been around since the beginning of humans and we haven't exactly gone extinct. Homosexuality is natural and exists widely in nature. Would you prefer that homosexuals live miserably as heterosexuals and procreate, raising children in phony marriages?

You do know that if it legal to marry a man, you won't be forced to divorce your wife and marry a dude, don't you?
