Senator McCaskill, a Barack Obama supporter, speaks about his ability to unite the country at an event in Kansas City, MO on January 29, 2008.
Claire McCaskill, senator from Missouri, is hardly a household name outside her home state. But Barack Obama knows who she is. She was there when Obama needed her most, a female senator endorsing him just after he lost New Hampshire's Democratic primary to Hillary Rodham Clinton. That was a politically risky move at the time, one that angered many of her own supporters. It came when Obama's clinching the nomination was far from certain.

"I will make a bold statement," McCaskill said in an interview. "Barack Obama will campaign in places that no presidential candidate has ever campaigned in, much less a Democrat."

Claire has the Jungle Fever!

hahaha John. She barely won her Senate seat (mostly won based on her state going/not going all Kansas regarding stem cell research). My guess is her jungle fever will loose her that senate seat. Of course unless Obama wins and gives her a cabinet position, which he probably will as he is the same as GWB in that respect...take care of you own.

Well yes, Obama believes in helping down ballot races as well. The easiest way to make any changes once elected would to solidify a majority of Democrats. I think the downside to the extended Democratic Primary for Republicans is that grassroot campaigns have now been set up in almost every single state that can now be mobilized for the general election. Democrats are making an effort to put up a fight in all the states this election year.
I was Republican last time...one thing i dearly regret. I have matured since then and my priorities have changed from fiscal conservatism to much more. I have taken the idea of responsibility from my conservative stances and applied it elsewhere, societal responsibility. Diplomacy, education, renewable resources, etc... a lot can fall under that umbrella.
What is better for all of us, not just me. It's still strange to call myself a Democrat, but its nice.-

Senator Claire McCaskill voted in the Senate today to pass legislation that would make key improvements to the Medicare program by helping maintain seniors’ access to doctors, improving services in rural areas, and protecting seniors from aggressive marketing of Medicare Advantage.

get off Obama's D lady. I would rather her talk about exactly how she planned to help Obama reach his goal of change by saying what she herself would do to help the country and is she was really feeling good make a few promises that she planned to fulfill and the exact date we should plan on seeing it completed, now that would be impressive and if she credited her goals of change to Obama it would look good for them both
