Bum wedding: Bride sues designer after wedding dress unravels at altar

An Italian woman is suing the designer of her wedding dress for "moral and financial damages" after the garment unravelled in church, exposing her bottom to the guests.

It was meant to be the happiest day of her life. But for one Italian bride her dream wedding turned into a nightmare when her designer dress came apart at the altar, exposing her backside to the entire congregation.

The unfortunate woman is now suing the designer of the dress, British newspaper The Daily Telegraph reported. Despite the embarrassing wardrobe malfunction, the bride soldiered on, the paper said, but could not have proper photographs taken of the ceremony as she was half-naked.

"This was supposed to be the biggest day of my client's life but it turned out to be the worst, her wedding was ruined," the woman's lawyer, Alberto Figone, said. "She was left extremely embarrassed because the stitching of her dress came apart at the altar, slid down and revealed her bottom to the whole congregation."

The 30-year-old woman, who cannot be named because of Italian privacy laws, claims the €2,514 ($3,953) dress came apart because of poor stitching. She is now suing the designer of the dress, a shop in the town of Rapallo, for €23,000 ($36,167).
Although the woman got married in 2006, the case has only now come to court. Her lawyer Figone said his client was suing the dress maker "for moral damages as well as financial damages."

Unfortunately, the woman's bad luck didn't end there: She has since separated from her husband.
