Three drawings by legendary Spnish artist Francisco de Goya, the so called 'father of modern art', which had been lost since 1877, have sold for more than £4m ($8m) at auction. One of the drawings: 'Bajar rinendo' (pictured) meaning 'down they come', fetched £2.2m, the most ever paid for a Goya work on paper.
The pieces all come from Goya's famous 'notebooks', which contain hundreds of small drawings, which fascinate art historians just as much as his more famous works: known for their nightmarish, psycological, and religious themes.
