When the bubbly blond co-host of “Live with Regis & Kelly” saw a news story about an international high-heel marathon, she bragged to Executive Producer Michael Gellman that if there was one in New York, she’d win.
More than 500 participants - including 11 men - from 40 states will compete in Regis and Kelly’s first-ever High Heel-a-thon in Central Park this morning for a chance at first place and $25,000. The race will air live starting at 9:30 a.m.
“Kelly is known for her shoes. So when she was bragging that she’d win, we knew we had to do it,” Gellman says. “Though now she’s getting nervous. She’s starting to backtrack. It was, ‘I’m gonna win, I’m gonna kill those people.’ And now she sounds like she’s nervous.” And she is.
