“While the G8 Summit is being held in Tokyo, governments and nations should urge Britain and the US to destroy their nuclear stockpiles,” President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said during a Tuesday press conference on the sidelines of the D8 meeting in Kuala Lumpur.

“If they dismantle their atomic arsenals then no one would be worried about nuclear weapons, and they would not need to spread false accusations against other countries,” he added.

“Why is it that the US government can make nuclear weapons and use them to threaten others, while other nations can not be allowed to benefit from peaceful nuclear technology.”

When it comes to nuclear technology, the same law should apply to everyone, said Ahmadinejad.

The US, Israel and their allies accuses Tehran of trying to acquire atomic weapons. Israel, however, is widely believed to possess the Middle East's only nuclear arsenal with 200 ready to use atomic warheads.

  • Did he suggest that Israel do likewise?
When one proposes the unrealistic, one might as well go full tilt.

  • ok, now, here are my two bits...

if what he suggests, China will have to as well, and who is going to make them do that? Does Iran really think they can tell us what to do? We are resource sucking hogs, yes, but not all American's feel that laying down our weapons is a good move.

I think we would need help from UFO's or something stronger than all of us, maybe a world threat, to bring things to the table, rather than be suggested/threated by a country who is launching missiles and making threats like Iran, or Iran alias.

If we lay down our nukes, then the actuality of war increases - since there are no deterrents, and it will then be a matter of might is right on a different level - i.e., it's a matter of who has the most ships, planes, trains, tanks, ammo, best trained, good/bad weather, strategists, etc, and do not forget, the WILL - said like Brando...

Certainly Nukes have served their purpose, but countries like Iran, Korea, China, Caspian nations, yadda, all want what we have, when really there can be only one Lion king. It just doesn't work. History shows this.

What is needed is a common goal, and I feel that Global Warming is a good start. Any nation, that includes the US, who does not participate in curbing growth and resource hogging should be dismantled, for nothing will safe us if we do not act Now.

See how I brought that all together, back to the real issue.... If Iran continues to make threats, and doesn't switch to solar power soon, which it could be a leader with all that oil money, it will be targeted for dismantling. If out of the blue, there President said, you know what, we are going to stop all this warring and go solar, THAT would be something worth fighting for, THAT would be a great example for the world tot follow, and THAT would change our agenda rather quickly.

The only bad would be, if he was lying and playing war properly as he believes he is doing currently.

Strategy - Best played by nations that can back up what say and do.

I know it's sad, but true. There has to be a world police, or it will be become chaos.

    oh... the humanity....

  • Reducing the world's nuclear stockpile is an admirable goal; however, nations have been trying to do that since the 70's with limited success. That said, I can’t help but wonder if the US and Israel would be so anxious to start a war with Iran if Iran had the bomb. Balance of power goes both ways.
