These days it's hard to be a celebrity. There's just too many cameras, web sites, and media outlets that are just dying to catch you at the wrong moment. The Reverend Jesse Jackson had his moment when he didn't realize that a microphone was still recording audio. Rev. Jackson has since apologized to Obama for his snide remarks.

  • Jackson is an irrelevant jerk

  • the most ironic thing about this is that about 8 years ago this exact same thing happened to me @ a police brutality protest that i was marching in that rev. jackson was leading...i accidentally said "fuck jesse jackson..." into a mic that i seriously didn't know was on because of the way that he & his cronies were treating some of the protesters like they didn't want them to be there.

rev. jackson & one of his security guys gave me the super icy mean mug, but we squashed it do to my youth & passion.

its funny how things come back to you in the youtube era.

  • but for the record rev. jackson is actually on point this time. black men are not the only cats that don't take care of their kids.

obama is definitely on some neo negro-ish, which is all good because there are tons of diverse beliefs & philosophies in every group of people.

however, that doesn't mean that its cool to belittle & invalidate the existence & circumstances of others to elevate your world views...especially when you have virtually no common reference point with those that have more thoughtful & nuanced life experiences.

  • Jesse and Al ( Sharpton) : they are gods and i couldn't care less if Obama dressed up as Kunta Kinte and whipped out a drum and began beating on it in order to summon ancestral spirits straight from Africa to try to represent "black america" - Obama is a boot licking gimp .

  • Malathion - "i couldn't care less if Obama dressed up as Kunta Kinte and whipped out a drum and began beating on it in order to summon ancestral spirits straight from Africa to try to represent "black america" - Obama is a boot licking gimp ."

Obama wouldn't do that because beating drums and blah, blah, blah, blah, doesn't represent black america at all. Is that why you like sharpton and jessie? because that's basically what they do, it certainly amounts to no more.

  • Obama is blaiming men for leaving theri families, but he is NOT citing a mojor reason it is happening!!!!!!!!!! Money!! It is becoming increasingly impossible for a man to support his family, that translates into that man feeling like a failure, he then feels he can't support his family and child support is easier to make than it is to raise a child!!!! The government has set up poorer families to fail by not raising minimum wage to a point that it allows people to maintain the cost of living!!! By Obama preaching at the black community he is only blaiming the victim of a circumstance that plagues all Americans, it is not just black families that are breaking under the pressure of trying to survive!!
It now takes two incomes to survive with one child, if you have more than one and both make minimum wage, then someone can't have everything that they need!!! And the government has policies to NOT help intact families!!!!
OBAMA IS MISSING THE BIG PICTURE!!! HE IS BLAIMING PEOPLE FOR WHAT IS BEING DONE TO THEM!!!!
Our Government needs to reform our minimum wage and NOT keep blaiming people for giving up when they get ever get anywhere because when they try their assistance is cut off and then they have to chose, work and starve or live on welfare AND STARVE!!!
Jessie Jackson has never been one of my favorite people, BUT he is right about Obama!!

  • One interesting development about the 'Obama Phenomenon" and how the black race and Democratic party will both have to reassess themselves will be under the heading of "Lost Enablement"...
How will any democratic politician pander votes from societal malcontents with a black president? Will their voting base evaporate if more and more blacks realize self-determination has nothing to do with being a democrat?
The party of Lincoln was the Republican party...How the Democratic party was successful in stealing the black vote with its history of racism is the biggest mystery of all to me...Oh well...Equal opportunity will make the Republican party more appealing to the educated and forward moving black community every day...Just watch Barack and Jesse--you won't be able to keep your voters down and behold'n forever....
Now that both of you became rich because of suckering the poor vote, let's promote a real education and economic plan, one that actually elevates your electorate to take matters into their own hands or is crushing business with regulation and high taxation=increased unemployment with resulting poor education systems and decrepit neighborhoods =get votes formula still your bread and butter...
McCain could move business and education forward faster than Obama--but again, this is the Democrats greatest fear..Winning, not whinning...

  • Let's just be honest; Jesse Jackson is jealous that he never stood a snowball chance in hell of securing the Democratic nomination and now we have Barack Obama who may be the next POTUS. So Jesse takes his ugly, oatmeal faced ass on television and talks bad about Obama and the last time I checked, Jesse was an alleged "reverend". Yeah, he's probably a "reverend" in the sense that his good buddy, Al Sharpton is, never ordained or anything. Why is Jesse Jackson even relevant? He is just "living" off of MLK's legacy, probably can't stop telling King stories, etc. What has Jesse done for America- not just blacks, but America- lately? Not a damn thing. I don't give a damn if I'm black and Jesse's black. I'd vote McCain over Jesse Jackson! But the media continues to give jerks like Jackson an outlet to vent their jealous rants on national television. They kept the camera rolling on purpose, knowing Jackson was going to say something dumb as hell. He knows that Barack has a good damn chance to be prez, he's just jealous cuz he couldn't secure a nomination. Well, Jesse, no black person I know voted for you or Al Sharpton. We'd vote for OJ first.

  • He was probably paid to do that. I think Jackson needs to stop trying to polarize blacks and whites and start joining the USA. Sounds like a racist to me.

  • Thank you for sharing this article. As for me I voted for Jesse Jackson and defended the reason why we are ready for a diverse president. Whether it is a woman, or person of color.
Finally we understand that just because you are a person of color does not mean that you have the total acceptance and carte blance just because of color. I am sorry that a comment that should have been private has become a part of the mainstream. I think there is some truth to Jackson's statement, minus the n...s of course.
The bigger question is this, does Obama represent anything that is rock solid and politically, professionally mature enough to carry this country?

  • Jesse Jackson is a complete joke... I don't know if anyone but Faux news really takes him seriously...

  • Bravo to the interviewer for not even flinching or altering his emotions! WOW! Let's nominate him for President!
To the one who commented to me that Obama is better than McCain, as of right now I agree. But that doesn't make wrong right

  • as much as i think that barack obama has been correct in telling the black community it needs to look in the mirror in some part to help their current situations, i have no problem with jesse jackson saying that he disagrees with him. that doesnt make him a jerk. or an asshole or other bad word people seem to be using here to describe this clip.

people are entitled to their opinions, even if those opinions may be fueled by jealousy or egomania.
jesse jackson has spent his entire life trying to illuminate the institutionalized racism that has plagued our country, and on a cursory glance, (like too many people do when they approach someones words) obamas criticism of some black family structures seems contrary to that. for some, it could make it seem as if he is saying the problem rests with black people, which is not what hes saying. at all.

We do ourselves a disservice if we dont try to come at these ideas with the nuance they have. if you have read his books and listened to his speeches he has said many times about the nuance of the black struggle, that some of it is outwardly inflicted and some inflicted from the inside.

  • As you can see even when black people as a chance to do something great... their is always other black people trying to bring them down..
