Four stabbed to death on same day in London

Four men were fatally stabbed in London yesterday, a bitter highlighting of the city's apparently worsening record on knife attacks.

The victims were 19 and 40-year-olds from north London, and two men "in their 20s" from Leyton and Walthamstow, east London. Police report that six people are being held over the murders: "a man and a woman .. over the stabbing in Edmonton", and "four people ... in connection with the attack in Leyton".

Recent statistics showed that in the UK over 14,000 people were admitted to A and E with knife wounds last year, and that the group most at risk was young people in their late teens and early twenties.

  • Is there some place that is stating why people are being knifed? Are they having disagreements with the ones that knife them or are they chosen at random just because?

    Violence finds its way into the hearts of many no matter the law, no matter the restrictions, no matter the where. Laws will never govern the malicious and the insane. They only govern those that don't need them.

  • We need to do a lot more work into both the control of knives themselves, and in combatting the reasons, whatever they may be, that young people feel the need to carry knives. This is an incredibly serious problem for a great city like London, and needs to be treated as such.
