Britons arrested for drunk sex on Dubai’s beach

Michelle Palmer, a 30 years old manager in publishing firm charged with having sex outside marriage, being drunk in public, in decent behavior and assaulting a police officer. Sex out of marriage is an offence in Dubai. Source Sun newspaper

The duo may face between three months and six years jail.

According to Michelle, the authorities are going to make them an example so they are going to get higher sentence. She also has to loose her job, as unmarried sex is strictly banned in United Arab Emirates.

According to her, she drank Champagne during a feast with colleagues. Then she go for a walk on Jumeirah beach with one of the friend of colleague.

Then the duo found by police having sex in beach. The police officer warned them to restrain but they did not hear him. On returning, he found them in same position and arrested them.

When police officer arrested Michelle, she tried to hit the officer with her high heel shoe.

Drink in public is also an offence in United Arab Emirates.

  • No!!!To say more christian anything needs to be introduced into America is absurd. We are being inundated with religious obsession. There is already so much time spent with religious preoccupations that people aren't paying attention to personal and social responsibility such as voting for the right guy in 2000.

  • You presume a great deal. I and a lot of people are not religious....at all. And before you say that atheism is a religion, don't. Because it will just make you sound all the more ignorant. Furthermore, people who can only get their foundations from an archaic book or books are inherently flawed in some way that I am not qualified to explain. A large percentage of the people on this planet who have never been exposed to any religion whatsoever have developed their own moral and ethical foundation as well as a political preference. If you were to bother to look up the definition of politics you would learn that it has absolutely nothing to do with religion unless you misconstrued the meaning of internal affairs to include religion.

    No one and least not me, is interested in a lecture about moral relativism. Just because you purport to understand a philosophy of your religion, doesn't mean you will act on it or even that you will interpret it all the same way. So it's a moot point what you may or may not learn. Many of the neocons who are christians and even some priests are pedophiles--did they take christian teachings to heart. Your argument is ideological and doesn't mean everyone who studies or learns it will actually benefit from it. I will say again, there is no need for any more "Judeo-Christian principles" in America.

    I think you said it for me when you said it further encourages people to establish an understanding and value of morality. Exactly! Thank you, I couldn't have said it better my self.   • In my opinion, regardless of religion, people traveling should respect the customs and culture of the land which welcomed them. Especially people traveling on business, you would think they learned the rules. This situation is unfortunate, but there is something to learn from it.

  • When in Rome do as the Romans do. They were warned to stop by the police and when the police returned the couple were still at it and apparently got abusive. So I have no sympathy for stupid people who do stupid things despite being warned by the police to stop.

    Some people care more about certain things than others. I found this article odd because I just remember seeing this pod about prostitutes in Dubai last week I think. How ever is Dubai going to be Vegas when it's illegal for whores to work? Or is there a fine line between whores and sluts?

    Nonetheless, I certainly think the woman's behavior was in poor taste all thing considered.
