The band has just released a video for "House of Cards" without using cameras or lights.
The clip instead utilizes two state-of-the-art multimedia technologies known as Geometric Informatics and Velodyne Lidar:
"Geometric Informatics scanning systems produce structured light to capture 3D images at close proximity, while a Velodyne Lidar system that uses multiple lasers is used to capture large environments such as landscapes. In this video, 64 lasers rotating and shooting in a 360 degree radius 900 times per minute produced all the exterior scenes."

Pretty much amazing, if you ask me.

Gorgeous imagery, especially those landscapes, but not well-suited to a tiny web video representation.

Is there any mold these cats won't break? One more reason they're one of the greatest group of artists of our time.
-
this is a stunning visual. leave it to radiohead to utilize the latest in technology for purposes of creating beautiful art.
-
One of my favorite bands. Very impressive video as well.

In small world news, my cousin Aaron was the Director of Technology for this video. His data visualization work is seriously world class.

Cutting edge it may be, but it's still a long way off being watchable.

I love the wailing intro, pure radiohead; the rest of the song I'm not too keen on...
-
every time I hear the intro to this song... I want to go "ooee-muh-whey, ooee-muh-whey...In the jungle, hte might jungle....." ALSO ending to song nude (as in like last 10 seconds of it is same Little Mermaid's "voice" in the film. Anyone else notice these things.
In one interview I remember Thom Yorke saying "It boggles my mind how anyone could bang to our music" or something like that, but I can totally see it with this song.-
