Father branded a 'pervert' - for photographing his own children in park

Image...
When Gary Crutchley started taking pictures of his children playing on an inflatable slide he thought they would be happy reminders of a family day out. But the innocent snaps of seven-year-old Cory, and Miles, five, led to him being called a ‘pervert’.

That's insane. He did absolutely nothing wrong, didn't take any pictures of anyone else' kids, was open about showing people the photos he had taken.

To be branded a pervert for taking pictures of his own kids just seems like everyone else is taking things too seriously.

This kind of stupidity makes me furious!!!!

Why do we always imagine the worst in people - he's taking photos of children in a park ... MUST be a pervert!

Can't in any way be the children's father ... No, not in this day and age, where peadophiles lurk behind every bush.

    Argh!!

"Thousands of UK residents have signed a petition against a law preventing photography and filming in certain public places. Yet this all turned out to be a misunderstanding, and no such law was proposed. Rajesh investigates the way we view the lens and the way it views us."

The owner of the slide is a local councillor, it was companies policy and daughters poor handling of the situation that caused this incident.

In another public park on another sunny day he could have been linched.

It is ironic and ridiculous that people accuse a father taking pictures of his children in a park, but ignore or fail to pay attention to children that are actually being sexually abused.

What is going on in this world?? I just want off.

  •

It's also ironic that the newspaper reporting this story - London's Evening Standard - is part of Associated Press, which also owns The Daily Mail, a paper that is in no small part responsible for this level of hysteria towards potential paedophilia...

Still, this story is a damning indictment of the way in which society has become perversely twisted.

Infuriating!!! Poor guy just trying to take pictures of his kids and gets harassed. Those women that accused him of doing otherwise if anything should be called perverts for saying he was doing anything other than capturing a family moment. So ridiculous its not even funny.

If someone told me to stop taking pictures of my child there would be a fist fight.

This is really, really dumb. I cannot get my head around what some people are thinking....

seems like to the best way to protect your children and family these days is by not having any....

  •

---‘I showed her the photos I had taken to prove my point. Then another woman joined in and said her child was also on the slide and did not want me taking pictures of the youngster.----

    HAHAHA...stupidity is contagious.

It hurts the mind to even have to fathom this kind of statement let alone line of thinking.

You won't stop someone from taking pictures of your child if they so deem it necessary to do so. You can pretend you have that kind of power and feel good that you'd make them bleed if you found out, but in reality you have absolutely no power over what someone decides to do with a camera, especially without cameras look today.

I once worked as a district manager for a large city newspaper. Now of course, my job was to recruit kids to be newspaper boys & girls.

My car had the Newspaper bumper stickers on it so anyone could surmise that I worked for the paper.

I had company-supplied business cards with the newspaper logo, address and phone number and my name and title with me as I talked with the local neighborhood kids....

One day some scared and freaked out parent called my office and my house to complain.

She found out I indeed did work for the newspaper.

Scary that you can be totally innocent, professional and still be accused of anything these days:(

It really says more about the people who called him a pervert. If you stop seeing sex in children, a bathing suit becomes a bathing suit, a hug is no longer a proposition, and a wink is just a child being cute.

It's essentially the media's fault for their ridiculous scare mongering and over-coverage of paedophilia cases.

None of the people who complained were men. Would a woman with a camera get harassed like this? Never.

This is pure sexism. Prejudicial anger directed directed against men. And seemingly only by women.

The officials at the park were taking a much gentler stance on this kind of activity, so the infectious anger was caused by some few who are good at creating a scare out of nothing.

Sexism is bad. This stuff is pure sexual harassment. To those few ladies that go off the deep end: Stop. Get some therapy. Seriously.

People are so brainwashed by mass-media that they are scared and suspicious of everything and everyone...

Culture of fear. Chalk one up for "the terrorists".

That's why I don't watch all that crap.
    F Corporate media.

You can seriously tell they are his kids... look at them. I mean, they look like him.

This is why as a photographer I am afraid of taking pictures of kids at a park.

  •

That shit is crazy... I wish someone would call me a pervert for taking photos of my children...
