Saving the planet? George Carlin R.I.P

George was right on one level. We are an arrogant species. He was wrong on another level though. We are not trying to save the planet. We are trying establish a sustainable enviroment so we can stave off being one of the extinct species for a while. The planet doesn't need our help. The small parts of it that can keep us alive do. Let's not help evolution shake us off in the immediate future.
By the way ctznwes, George was a dedicated atheist. What "better place" are you refering to?

Well being that he believed and prayed to Joe Pesci, i would say he's in a casino somewhere.

His point that we need to work on ourselves, first, will stand the test of time...the length of which our involvement continues will remain, for the time being.

I think he is saying what he is saying, not the language and how it's employed. We are arrogant and think we can control mother nature. She will do as she pleases. If she wants to wipe our existence off of earth, she will!
War will kill us before "global warming" will.

Oh and before someone says that I'm anti-global warming, i do believe that we are polluting our world and we should cut down our pollution, but i believe that the sun is the biggest factor to what is happening here on earth and there is nothing we can do about that.
