What's the worst thing about San Francisco? The fog, the hills, the tourists? No. It's parking tickets. More than 2 million tickets were issued last year - that's four for every car in San Francisco. Ridiculous. A local San Francisco company has had enough and is paying parking tickets for a lucky few starting this week.

Yeah, they suck. But since they're a major part of the city's income, it's not really a surprise that they give out so many.

I read a few years back that there are 50,000 more cars in the City than there are parking spaces. Any idea of the current number?

Apparently there's about 40,000 more cars than spaces, based on 2005 statistics. Incredible.
Number of cars in San Francisco, as represented by the number of registered automobiles in 2005: 373,115. Total number of city-managed parking spaces: 334,625

Why don't you move to LA (or anywhere else in America) if you feel the need to drive everywhere?
