Cannabis could be used to treat many forms of cancer, new research suggests.
The drug contains an ingredient which slows tumour growth and prevents the reproduction of cancer cells, doctors say.
Its effects are seen in all cancers but particularly in those of the lung and brain, and leukaemia, it is claimed.

Lets just take what we want if they don't listen.

My father has Lymphoma, and watching him wither away is incredibly horrible, so if something can help him I am all for it!

Im starting to wonder why weed is illegal at all. It doesn't kill people, it doesn't cause all kinds of health problems like tobacco and alcohol. It is proven as a pain reliever and can now be used to slow the effects of cancer. I think it's illegal because the goovernment doesn't want low class citzens to make money from selling it...

People don't smoke draw and then go back and beat their wives! It should be legal, its fun and its even religious for some people! Legalise cannabis!

It's prohibition stems from the crack and cocaine craze. At this point a line had to be drawn in the sand, sadly enough weed fell on the illegal side of the line.

marijuana prohibition has nothing to do with crack, it's due to a man named Anslinger, you should check him out- basically he used Americans fears of mexicans and blacks to outlaw the least harmful drug

yea spoonie, that dude was a crazy racist ass hole. He pretty much said that mexicans and blacks would smoke weed and then rape white women. I wish when looking at laws people would not only analyze why they are ridiculous or unnecessary but look at how they were made into laws. If the arguments initially used were analyzed any logical person would see it was ridiculous.

yeah, the whole raping white women excuse has been used throughout history to put some stupid laws on the books. esp. Jim Crow laws and the like.

The problem with marijuana for cancer patients is that the drug will lower your white cell count. That, coupled with chemotherapy, is what makes it dangerous for people in that situation. Even in tablet form it has still been proven to lower white cell count.
A chemo-weakened immune system further weakened by marijuana makes the patient unable to fight off some of the more common diseases that end up killing cancer patients such as pneumonia or staph infections.
So while it has proven to shrink tumors, we have other medications that can do the same without the side effect. I wish all that I can for the betterment of cancer patients though unfortunately don't think marijuana is the correct way to go.
