Watch this video, it's an 'Assault on Reason' if there ever was one. Jon Stewart does it like no other!

Headlines - It's the Stupid Economy
President Bush is an optimist on the economy, but Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke is an expert.

  • LAHolly, while I agree with you, George W. is no idiot, rather a corrupt criminal, unfeeling, despicable and just plain rotten. I DO NOT feel a presidential assassin would be a national hero. Cowboy justice is what has been the worst characteristics of this administration. I like the ‘Rule of Law’, testimony ‘under oath’, public shame. I think it’s time they are held accountable. I think it’s time for some ‘ACCOUNTABILITY AND SHAME’, something which has been missing for the past eight years. Nothing they have done has caused them shame? They should be held accountable. They should not be able to walk off into the sunset.

My National Hero will be the person or persons who brings them to justice! Those who expose the lies of this administration are true hero’s. People have even written books about their shameful actions. . Mainstream media has been quite successful in shifting everyone’s attention back to the ’08 campaign, The Presidential campaign started a year early, enabling news to be about tomorrow, instead of exposing the shames of today.

  • The marketplace works if your goal is to have people without shelter and unable to drive.

Maybe they should have Fannie Flagg and Bernie Mac running the banks, they couldn't do a much worse job than has already been done. Or even a Fanny Pack and Freddie Prinz or Tammy Faye and a Big Mac.

At least they were able to pay for those wiretaps on TDS so the president can correct what he hears from Jon Stewart when he differs from the speech.

That's waaaay more important than the problem of people trying to get any of the "money" they "deposited" in IndyMac.

  • You know what the greatest day in the history of the Bush presidency would be? The day that he calls a press conference and announces what about 70% of the American population have known all along -- that he just doesn't know what the hell he's doing.

The reason that Jon Stewart is so funny is that he's so dead-on nearly all the time. Bush is a chimp, who can barely form a coherent sentence without sounding like he's desperately trying to come up with the few big words in his vocabulary so that SOMEBODY will think he's got half a brain. Now he can't even schedule press conferences without directly contradicting the head of the Federal Reserve on matters of the ECONOMY! Who do you suppose knows more, the FR Chairman or this squinty-eyed doofus of a President? God, is he even TRYING to appear intelligent anymore or has even he realized it's a losing battle?

  • Atropos77, I think your assumption that he can’t even schedule a press conference without directly contradicting the Head of the Federal Reserve on matters of the economy is wrong! I think it was intentionally timed to distract from the Federal Reserve Chairman’s testimony. It was strategery. I watched George W. I was distracted and I try to follow what is being said.

Look at the votes on this post, 65/35. Even when people are shown the facts, they vote against it. It was no accident, it was strategery. Sad fact, it took a comedy show to show the double speak. I guess mainstream media only covers what they classify ‘flip-flop’, double speak doesn’t get coverage. The fact that the administration said two very different things at the same time and mainstream media didn’t notice, or mention it, is a travesty.
