This is a good idea, but until they can do save,accurate, quick testing for HIV/AIDS, and other STD's the license would only give people a false sense of having safe sex. It takes time now to get the results from these test mainly the HIV test. I could go and get my test done say this week, but I wouldn't know the results for 2 weeks. As well as if I did show a neg. for the test that I took, it really doesn't assure me or anyone else that I didn't get infected last night. We need a better and faster way to test. So as to ensure the heathy lifestyle that we really want to live.

wow, this is awesome. so the next step is gov't sponsorship, and mandated licenses for prostitution after it's legalized. If prostitutes had check ups every month or so the gov't would have no case being in their business.

This sounds great on the surface. It would make much more sense if it covered all STDs, but if this were to catch on where would it stop? What's next? Family medical history? What does your gene pool look like, cancer, diabetes, heart attack, stroke? How's your cholesterol, your BMI? Sounds like a slippery slope toward controlling who we have sex and can procreate with. Sounds crazy? Tell that to the cloned sheepsesses.

I would apply for one of these. If your clean and have nothing to hide, it would be pretty cool. "Here's my proof that I'm clean.. wanna screw?" It brings the pressure and risk of having casual encounters to a minimum. A thought though, print the info of what tests were performed when and results on the card. It would kill a playa's game to be spittin lines and then "hold on a minute while I call and check up on you".

I thought of this ten years ago and started to fly with it when I was abruptly stopped by the fact that the license would be invalid after the next sexual contact. The reason being is that it takes awhile for hiv/aids or even hepatitis to show up..can be 5 or ten years..maybe thats changed lately, but the other thing is that there will be many fake ones out there like some other people mentioned above. Unless you have an "on the spot" blood test, it will always be Russian roulette having unprotected sex.

IDK... that i would want all that information to be given to any one person. Why not just assign a color "ID holder 123456 is a green status" or whtaever.

This system is imperfect, sure (incubation period, other STDs, etc). but it's a step in the right direction. I love that someone found a need and stepped up to do something about it.

This is fresh and new and it will be interesting to see how this works out. I believe we should all start being aware of our partners sexual backround before getting involved physically. STDs, AIDS, etc. are only on the rise, we should start to be aware, and this is a step towards that.

Great pod on a great topic! The number one benefit of this campaign is definitely the dialog that they've started about this issue. Even if the IDs aren't fool proof, they make that conversation easier.

Do you know why AIDs, HIV and other STDs (or whatever the initials are...wasn't there a new phrase) are transmitted so frequently = stupid people.

You may want to call it ignorance just to bless them with an excuse but I call them stupid.

The only people who are not stupid are those that get such on accident in freaked ways that don't have to do with them getting a needle from a dirty person or having sex with a random (or known...unknown) person.

I don't feel sorry for people if they choose to have random sex or sex at all if they catch something. They wanted the selfish act, they get what they get.

That's like me feeling sorry for a robber who gets shot for stealing from someone. Shouldn't have done it.

This idea is someone trying to help. Kudos to him for thinking of something that will help people be safer.

This guy seems like he started this whole thing so he can have an excuse to bring up sex and that he's clean (from AIDS at least). Until you expand the "licensing" to all STD's and stupidity and actually make it enforcible (not just a show off card), the idea will never fly.

How is he making money on this project anyway?

It's scary to think that there are areas of this country where AIDS is really a problem. If you're really in the danger zone to be getting AIDS, then wouldn't it make sense to just not have sex unless you're in a long-term, highly committed and trusting relationship instead?

It is apparent that a lot of time an thought went into this project. It is interesting to see that some young men and woman are taking there sexual health serious. Diffently keep up the good work the concecpt is good and the confidentiality is most important. Unfortunately, there are a lot of people that talk a good game when it talks about safe sex and being tested. They just dont believe that it could be them. I support what you are doing the information about how many times you should be tested each year was good information. some people dont know that just because you are in a monogmous relationship you should be safe just for you. you would hope that what you believe about the one you love is true. the problem with free condom programs is, they're discriminatory against larger sized guys. They never offer the Magnum XLs-- only the "standard" sized ones. =/
