A magnitude 6.6 earthquake has struck off the east coast of Japan, shaking buildings as far away as Tokyo.
Japan's meteorolgical survey had issued a tsunami warning, but the Pacific tsunami warning centre in Hawaii said that there is "no broad threat in the Pacific."
The quake had no fatalities, but is another reminder of the instability of the Japan region: one of the most tectonically active zones in the world.
