A children's television program broadcast by the recognized terrorist organization Hamas welcomed child viewers to decide the fate of a thieving pink bunny, whom the children sentenced to having his hand chopped off for his crime.
The programming is being publicized by the Middle East Media Research Institute, which has posted the video on its website.
The latest excerpt is from the Hamas children's show called "The Pioneers of Tomorrow," and aired on Al-Aqsa television on July 11, MEMRI said.

In the opening scene a character dressed as Satan tempts Assud the Bunny into stealing a few monetary bills from his father, while Assud begs "God" to let his dad sleep through the theft.

After the drama unfolds, the scene shifts to a room where Assud is seated and a girl named Saraa acts as television host, fielding calls from child viewers.

In the excerpt, compiled by MEMRI, the comments of three child viewers can be heard.

Voice of first child viewer: Assud, you were wrong to follow Satan, who is the source of all problems. In addition, you caused problems between your parents. You have no right to cause such a great problem. Don't you know that stealing leads to hell? The Prophet Muhammad said, "If my daughter Fatima had stolen, I would have chopped off her hand." If you were in Saudi Arabia now, they would chop off your hand. Allah said in the Koran, "As for a thief, male or female, cut off their hands: A punishment by example, for their crime."

Child TV host Saraa to a second viewer: What do you think about what Assud did?

Voice of second child viewer, Asmaa: It was wrong, because "as for a thief, male or female, cut off their hands."

Assud the Bunny: Oh my God! You say that my hand should be chopped off, Asmaa?

Asmaa: Yes.

Assud: You think my hand should be chopped off?

Asmaa: What?

Assud: You want my hand to be chopped off?

Asmaa: Yes.

Voice of a third child viewer, Nur: The Prophet Muhammad said, "If my daughter Fatima had stolen, I would have chopped off her hand."

Assud: So if Saraa were to steal, her hand should be chopped off, right?

Nur: No.

Assud: When you were little, didn't you ever steal a shekel or something?

Nur: No, because Allah is watching me.

Saraa: Nur, do you think we should go ahead and chop off Assud's hand now?

Assud: No, no. Saraa, I'm begging you ...

Nur: Saraa, he has repented and promised never to do it again, then that's it.

Saraa: Well, if we don't chop off his hand, maybe we should chop off his ear?

Assud: No, please, no, I'm begging you ...

Hamas, which won a majority in parliament in January 2006 elections, officially is considered a terrorist organization by the U.S. government. As WND reported, a prominent Hamas leader recently was captured on video boasting of using children, women and the elderly as human shields in its firefights with Israeli soldiers.

  • Looks like these kids have it right but I recommend they take it a step further. I can't remember how many times I wanted to chop off Barney's head for simply singing a song.
