Phoenix Police arrested Earl Simmons, better known as rapper DMX, on a felony warrant Saturday afternoon.
Police say he was at the Phoenix shopping mall Metrocenter with a group of people when an officer ran his name and saw the warrant.
The Sheriff's Office says it is connected to an April incident at Scottsdale's Mayo Clinic.
They say he racked up a $7,500 hospital bill to be treated for pneumonia but pretended to be a man named "Troy Jones".
The charge relates to "theft for taking the identity of another" because they say he used a fake name and social security number.
