If this hadn't been filmed and released internationally...what's the likelihood the IDF would care??

"An Israeli human rights group has released a video that shows an Israeli soldier shooting a blindfolded Palestinian man with a rubber coated steel bullet at close range.

BTselem released the video on Sunday, saying it had forwarded a copy to the Israeli military police and was demanding an investigation be opened.

The video shows a Palestinian man, whom BTselem named as Ashraf Abu Rahma, handcuffed and blindfolded standing by a group of Israeli soldiers.

One soldier aims his weapon at the Abu Rahma's legs, from about 1.5 metres away, and appears to fire at him.

Everytime I hear about how monstrous and barbaric Hamas or Hezbollah is, I remind myself that the only reason people think this way is because the mainstream mediafails to report on how horrible Israel is. This is in kind with the recent waves of attacks on journalists by the IDF and there overall lack of concern for arabs. It was also kicked out of the Lebanon by Hezbollah. Is the IDF falling apart internally, is this a sign that morale among the Israelis is falling?...let's hope so (because maybe they'll be forced to work out peace then)

  • I can't look at the video. I wish the occupation would end. There is not justification for what Israel does. Israel, GET OUT OF PALESTINE! END THE OCCUPATION! WHAT YOU ARE DOING IS WRONG!

    it's time for people to see how Israel is playing.
    They are shooting, razing house (with people in), provoking hatred and when they have retaliation, they will play the martyr and attack back (as the savage bombing over Beyruth!)
    They are the reason the Peace never happen, they don't want it, they are stronger, better geared and supported by US so they feel untouchable!

  • Wow, shooting someone unarmed, cuffed and that close in range...thats disgusting, and cowardly. This poor guy and all the poor people who have been subjected to this kind of violence...why cant we find a better way to make a point?

  • Another horrible Israeli government murder. Cold Blooded, and a shame on humanity. How can they do stuff this? COLD BLOODED MURDERERS...you would think after what Hitler did to them and many other groups, the Israelis would have a humanitarian gut, but they are turning out to be gutless killers in order to steel land from innocent people...and NO, the anti-Semitism argument will not stand with me...its an argument that is used for any one having their own opinion about the Israeli government. Holds no water and is a BS argument. Israel needs to start obeying the law and give back the Palestinians their land. period

    I hope this video shocks you, IT SHOULD. but who are you going to tell about it, how many e-mails can you send to public officials and others. be a part of a movement. there's enough people who just want peace and happiness to overcome the few powerfull and greedy it's all about our determination now.

  • Shooting a rubber bullet at a violent rioters toe (although I admit he was handcuffed) .......I wouldn't exactly call that murder! Read the full story before you start ranting.

    This action shows short-sightedness on part of the Israeli military. Do they expect him to learn his lesson and never participate in this sort of behavior again? I doubt it. If anything, his hostility might be worsened.

  • It seems to me that a BIG question we should all be (USA Citizens) asking our government officials is to justify the relationship with Israel in terms that make sense to the domestic masses.

    I know the post-WorldWar II officials created Israel. Now somebody please tell me why we can't make peace there. I need history.

  • The Shooting is wrong, he was already detained. But this does not change the fact that Jews and Israelis have always been in Jerusalem. There is no such thing as an occupation. They were there, before anyone else and any other Religion.

  • This is a misleading post. i thought that there was a vicious killing of the man by skimming the post and comments. I am not saying there is no wrongdoing, in this case, but we don't know the whole story yet..
    If he were my son i would be upset for sure but it does say he received only minor injuries and that the film was misleading. .should be investigated though by a third party.

    We need to concentrate on real injustices because there are an infinite number of those being done..all over the region and the world. These comments show an obvious bias against Israel. This seems to me to be an over reaction because we don't know who to believe anymore. US media is corrupt to the bone. People naturally will overreact because they now see everything Israel does as associated with Bush. This is only true to a degree...it doesn't make everything Israeli evil either...shades of gray need to be taken into consideration....

    IT WAS A RUBBER BULLET AND HE WASNT MURDERED.

    Admittedly, however, shooting a handcuffed man at close range who is blindfolded and cant see it coming is inhumane and breaks just about every POW law.

    It is wrong to shoot someone who is handcuffed. If this was done by American Soldiers, we would never hear the end of it. It was done by Israelies to a Palestinian, you never hear a word about it.

    It should be noted that this soldier was arrested . . . which brings to mind a question. For those comparing Israeli actions to those of its terrorist enemies, can any of you show me some evidence that the Palestinian Authority (or any of its equivalents) has taken action to bring to justice any such perpetrator from its ranks?

    now i would like to see one group frome the palastinian side that will picture one act out of the miliones barbaric acts that they are doing to the israelies and im not talking about rubber bulets im talking about animals that going and bombing them self and killing inecent people so you all keep quiet because there is no country in this world that will act in this conflict as morall as israel(chek your history )
