"Citing a lack of interest, the Nevada Republican Party has called off its state convention and will instead pick its delegates to the national convention by private conference call.
The state party broke up its original convention in April when supporters of Ron Paul hijacked the proceedings and tried to elect delegates for their candidate to the national GOP convention in September. Party officials tried to reconvene on July 26, but they needed a quorum of 675 and received only 300 RSVPs, according to local reports.
“With so many people concerned about the economy, it simply wouldn’t be fair for us to ask delegates from all over the state to spend money to attend a convention if we know that a quorum won’t be present,” state party Chairwoman Sue Lowden said in a release.
The news provides further evidence of a fractured and unenthusiastic Republican Party in some parts of the country."

Having a little trouble getting excited about McCain? Well, bless their little hearts, if gas wasn't so dear they could have just gone and partied. Now, they will just stay home and watch reality TV.

So what does that say about Nevada in November?
-
I love Nevada in November. It is beautiful and snowy usually. Nevada is great all year around. Apparently they just can't work up much enthusiasm for McCain. Could be they are done being a Republican State. I think they aren't alone in that this go around.

Sounds like that's worse news for the people that were depending on getting attention from protesting the convention than it is for the GOP member's themselves.
Kinda takes the wind out of their sails when they had their hearts set on disrupting the event to focus attention on their causes. -
in the words of Lewis Black, "it'll be like choosing between two bowls of shit in the general election. The only difference is the smell."
-
Hopefully this trend will spread across the country. C'mon Missouri you can do it!

Argon18, You are confused. Rush told the Republicans to go cause problems at the Democratic convention, not the reverse. No one plans to protest the Republicans, Lack of interest. Besides, McCain is doing enough damage all by himself.

Nope, you must've missed this story. It was Anarchists that planned the RNC and Rush that planned the DNC
I doubt either is going to happen now -
Ron Paul had a very strong showing in Nevada for the primaries, coming in second place. That probably has something to do with the "lack of interest" in a convention.
