Crystal Ball or Common Sense

Sen. Barack Obama touted setting a timetable for leaving Iraq and beefing up forces in Afghanistan a full year ahead of anyone else. While others were beating the faux patriotic drum wrapped in the flag Obama was breaking it down with actual straight talk.

The humorous aspect is watching the current administration and the presumptive Republican nominee try to spin the affirmation of Sen. Obama's foreign policy credentials by the President of the country we're occupying. It's hard to drive the "Straight Talk Express" straight with all the wheels spinning in different directions.

  • I like seeing McSame squirming as he tries to toss out his usual brand of rubbish, just like all the other idiot talking heads. Too bad some Americans are partaking of the kool-aid.

    Voted UP.

  • I think it's funny that Bush is implementing Obama's ideas with only name changes to make them his own, poor old McCain keeps trying to hop on the same wagon and missing. I hear McCain is up for the Global Dufus Prize.
  • "Global Dufus Prize"

  • I'm getting this:

Uniformedmatch has responded after your comment on Current.com:

    Uniformedmatch said:

Show your support for our Troops wearing their uniforms in public place, they are should be well- beloved since your safety is safeguard by them! All should be on http://www.Uniformedmatch.com

Though I don't see the above response. I'll respond anyway. I'm very proud to say, whenever I see someone in military uniform I make my way to them (restaurant, shopping center, whatever), I shake their hand, and I thank them for their service to our country.

I support the troops. I wanna bring them home.

  • Why beef up the millitary in Afghanistan? Afghanistan never harmed America, and the invasion of Afghanistan was planned for mid-October 2001 long before 9/11 - the real reason for being in Afghanistan is to build and protect the oil pipeline from the Caspian Sea Basin through to Pakistan and India, as well as to exploit the huge reserve of natural gas that lies in Afghanistan. We were lied to about that war before we were lied to about Iraq. We should leave Afghanistan and Iraq, we have done far to much damage and commited far too many slaughters in both countries.

  • The group that controls the world and plays with it like old men play chess in the park have finally gone too far......George Bush and Dick Cheney have allowed more harm than they expected........they must allow things to pivot and they know that America will not accept McCain in any form....they also know that they can not rig this election....after the last debacle....This group is still the ones you need to become aware of.......not even Bush and Cheney know who they are.....Obama seems to be a brave kind person......I wish the best for him and America.......the term...Common sense..... must not be used in America any more......it is not a valid term.....maybe in the past...just not now.....Golden Ruler.....Will........
  • AMEN Vierotchka....what the hell is all this Afghanistan BS we are hearing now? This is a country with no air force, no navy, and we are hearing all this trumped up crap about how we need to be there now... the bottom line is that the powers that be... GLOBALLY...the powers that be, are making money on warfare, and so they attempt to appease us with talk of getting out of Iraq but follow hard on that with --we have to go to Afghanistan. The American people responded to the push for war with Iran with a resounding "Hell NO" and now all of a sudden Afghanistan is the looming threat again. I am not buying any of it.

  • lol Obama has constantly been reaffirmed in many of his comments regarding this war and this country's decision regarding this never ending war....

the current administration tries to say that is intention for a withdrawal when in actuality its agenda is the setup of long term operations...one can not happen if the other is the true intention....

Obama was right in 2002 and he is right now...

  • Afghanistan is more of a threat than Iraq ever was. The difference between Iraq and Afghanistan is that al Qaeda actually happened to be from Afghanistan and Iraq had nothing to do with anything.
  • Afghanistan is a country of seasoned warriors...they fought the Russians long before they aligned themselves with al Qaeda, but the real threat of al Qaeda comes from the $$$ backing their operations, and those $$$ are coming from Saudi Arabia, the "keep em close" colleagues of the Bush dynasty. We are far more deceived in all of this than most of us want to even consider. The problem is, and always has been, that decent people assume that the rules they play by are the rules everyone else is playing by, and that is the first rule you break if you want to engage in terror.

  • I think it’s great that Obama wants to pull troops out of Iraq. However I think it’s a bad idea to send those troops to Afghanistan. The war in Afghanistan is a lost cause and staying their will only waste more money, more lives and embolden our enemies.

  • I can't say I fully understand why they are going to Afghanistan. I believe that they are after the training camps and breaking up the terror groups that are said to be holed up there? It is not about the afghan people. There would be no reason to harm the afghan people. It seems to me that generous rewards for information and bounties should take care of the problem.
  • I guess I would find it hard to think if my head was up baracks's ass too.

  • Here are some nice clips of Congressman Ron Paul (R-TX) discussing his views on U.S. foreign policy. A perfect combination of "straight talk," "hope," and "change."
