Attack injures several near Obama's Jerusalem hotel

The driver of an excavator was shot and killed after he drove the construction vehicle over a number of cars near the Jerusalem hotel where Barack Obama is scheduled to stay Tuesday night, according to police.


The excavator used in the attack sits behind a car near the King David Hotel in Jerusalem on Tuesday.

Israeli medical sources said two people were wounded.

An eyewitness told CNN that he saw the machine overturn two cars near the King David Hotel in downtown Jerusalem, where the U.S. presidential candidate will be staying when he arrives in Israel.

The incident comes three weeks after a similar attack in Jerusalem, in which a Palestinian construction worker rammed a front-end loader into a string of vehicles, killing at least three people before he was shot and killed by Israeli police.

    Why does the headline sais "attacker killed..." It should say "Terrorist killed after injuring 18 civilians"

    This reporting is misleading and one sided.

  • Oh now I see, you are citing CNN, well no wonder then.

    But even CNN labeled this "attacker injured 5"
    Which is 3 more then you mentioned and at least they mention that in the headline and not just "attacker killed".

    What your headline suggests is that "an attacker was killed" without stating what he even did to deserve this.

    Do you realize the guy with a bulldozer plowed into a bunch of civilians??? Just to kill them? He did not know any of them prior to that, just because they are Jews.

    That is what happened, an attack against citizens based on nationality. I.E. An act of terror. I'd like to see how you treat that kind of incident in the states.

  • Ok those people were injured and while this is unfortunate, we must not forget why the arabs are attacking the jews, which in this case is a retaliation from when the Israeli Firing Squad executing an Arab man "behind closed doors" late last week.

    These retaliations or attacks will by no means continue to happen in order for the arabs to protect there sanctity and sovereignty much like America did after 9/11.

    And by the way, Obama strongly endorsed the Israeli side which will not help America's image in the eyes of the Arab nation or "terrorist" as some may unfortunately refer them to.

  • Flying Camel...really...1920? How about the ethnic cleansing of the Cannanites by the Jews, because their God told them to. The "I have a right to be more angry about you killing me then you have of me killing you," has got to stop. Both sides have merits and both sides are at fault. Constant picking at the old wounds isn't constructive. Who knows maybe the "terrorist" was a father whose kid died by an Israeli missle attack. Does that make him a terrorist or a grieving father who did a horrible and stupid thing.

  • I blame the people and the other people who taught the people to hate the other people because the other people had hurt those people in the past, but it's understandable because the people were simply retaliating for what the other people had done to hurt them.   • Since this is the second attack they need to learn to disable vehicles like an excavator. Whats he gonna do after that. Shoot the Damn hydraulics.

    I can go on ad nauseum... the truth is NO ONE will ever know why the guy did it. He's DEAD. Using the word 'terrorist' here dilutes the meaning. Wise up - not every Palestinian who cracks is a terrorist, and not every Israeli Jew is an innocent.

    By killing the man the Israeli police end the possibility of finding out why he did such a thing. I do understand why they shot him, and it is a warranted action. In the end tho it only allows for the Israeli government to decide his intentions. Remember history is written by the people who were alive to to the story.

    did you know that the first guy that did this was first shot, then he kept on and killed another guy before the people could make sure he was dead. He went into a frantic berserk. Do you know why they shout "alla akbar?" its a part of that berserk.

    Do you think this is by coincidence, that the guy did it on when Obama is here? Ofcourse its out of a terrorist act, what else could be the motive? That he is mad at his boss? Please, people don't do that here.

  • Shouting "Allah Akbar" is not berserk. I don't condone what he did at all . But you should be informed Allah Akbar means " God is Greatest" It is equivalent to a Christian like Timothy McVeigh yelling in the "name of Jesus Christ or the Lord is my Savior", you get it? The religion has nothing to do with what they did the society and lifestyle of the Palestinians is why this is happening it;s both the Israelis and Palestinians who are to blame not one or the other. Maybe one more than the other but that is a whole other discussion

    Wanna hear a funny story? it really happened too.

    A suicide bomber something like 5 years ago tries to bomb a bus, but eventually only injures himself very badly.

    He wakes up at the hospital some 1 week later, believing with all his heart that he is in heaven, and starts to look for his virgins. The only way to convince him that he is not in heaven is when an IDF soldier showed him his badge, and he thought, if there is an IDF soldier here this cannot be heaven.

    The point is, these guys fully believe that they will get their virgins in heaven , its not a joke its the real thing.
