Anyone who is even considering joining the armed forces needs to read this! This was posted yesterday and buried, even though it was at the top of upcoming. It picked up another 70 diggs after being buried.

  • I fully support the IVAW's information campaign.

    My friend was recruited by the Marines and the recruiter told him not to disclose his psychological condition, which is bipolar disorder.

    At Camp Pendleton, he was not allowed to take his medicine, and when they found out he had a condition, they threatened him with imprisonment and a hefty fine, until they realized the recruiter was the one responsible for the "error." He never did make it to Iraq as he had hoped, to spread democracy in the Middle East and fight Communism (his stated goals).

    Anyone who claims that ethical standards in recruiting have not lowered since the Iraqi boondoggle is being disingenuous.
