Vehicles Powered Completely By Air (NO JOKE)

Like never before I need a second opinion... Is this for real?!
(Where is Russell Gehrke when I need him?)

Is it possible to exponentiate energy? This video claims that through various stages of compression technology, energy can be created and not entirely lost..

The CAR is POWERED by .. AIR. (under pressure)

Poof!

~I want to be a believer.

'Although it costs money to create the compressed air, that energy is actually created by, compressed air..'

Geoff Lawton, a permaculture design proffesional, says that 'it's not how much water you have in a system, it's how many times you use that water/energy.. within the system.' And I loosely quote, 'If you have one gallon of water, and you use it once, well then you have one gallon of water.. If you take that one gallon of water, and use it ten times, well then you have ten gallons of water.

Your take?

I am in the automotive industry and am always fascinated about the new ways to power cars. I have actually heard about this awhile ago, and it is real.

Very interesting concept, and if it can get backed by a major car developer, we could really have something here.

The problem is, the oil industry is very persuasive about keeping this technology out of the hands of the pubic.

Also check out the cars that are powered by vegetable oil, water, solar power or even manure.

We have the technology, but there is no progress if it interferes with the all-mighty dollar.

This is already in production by TATA motors of India who also recently purchased Jaguar and land Rover from the Ford Motor Company. The top speed is 70mph and the range is roughtly 300 miles on three gallons of gas which power the air compressor. It also needs no air conditioner as the compressed air can itself be used, and the car comes with an extra compressor that can refuel the car in as little as an hour. Expected production cost is under five thousand dollars but it isn't expected to be released in the U.S. Expect to see this on the road in as little as a year and a half.

people have been studying this for quite some time actually and its amazing that someone is putting that research and technology to use

I have a serious complaint. This technology is real. It costs only a few dollars to fill up the tanks and can be powered by electricity generated from wind, solar, etc. which makes it truly emission-free. However, this video tries to tell us that it costs "$0.00" to fill up and that we can run it perpetually! This is absurd. Running the engine requires that the air expands to push the pistons so it is no longer at the same pressure that would be required to compress more in compensation, not to mention energy lost to friction, air resistance, etc.

This technology is viable and useful but this video is only making it look like a piece of science fiction with no credibility.

I agree with technobarde. everything till the end is nice and logical but why did they have to throw in the perpetual motion there at the end. just leave it to the faces. I would be more then happy to have an air car.

    Image...

There is a lot of DIY not so nice looking ones people are doing with bikes.

This video makes me thing they are very loud but not much more then a gas car. plus I don't think they have any sound insulation in the prototypes.
