31 buildings collapsed and 102 people were injured in northern Japan Thursday, when a magnitude 6.8 earthquake shook the region.
The quake, which lasted for up to 40 seconds, also caused landslides in several places, and left 6,700 homes without electricity.
It is a testament to the quality of the Japanese builders that no-one was killed in such a large quake.
