So he turned to Mike Strizki to help him build a system that would produce enough power to quench his celebrity-born thirst for decadence while not throwing off massive amounts of greenhouse gas. The result is a solar system that stores excess energy as hydrogen for use at night, or during cloudy times of day (not too common in the Bahamas, but still.)

I'm glad to see that someone who can afford it is taking action. Bravo Depp.

Johnny is, obviously, his own man...he's got a good start on the future of alternative energy solutions...that's what I call getting off the grid...three cheers for Mr. Depp and for Mike Strizky...
Good post, vicky...

I think that its awesome that hes standing by his words in terms of green solutions. Is it me or does this story have the lamest joke collection or what?
-
Great I wish I could buy an island myself. It's always best to use other sources to power a home which is far away from civalization.
-
Eh, didn't Julia Roberts or someone do the same thing. I mean if everyone had 7 trillion dollars in the bank, this wouldn't be so amazing.
-
Great! Now I have another reason to love the man.
-
Good for Johnny!

What an inspiration. The only thing that would've made it cooler would be if he'd done it on an average sized lot in the middle of America within the means of the average person just to show it could be done and then donated it to Habitat for Humanity.
-
That's all well and good...but who ELSE can afford a place like this? Not Me!

Can't touch this.

He's one of many rich people who are doing this, anyone with that much money should be doing this, it's not even a struggle, it's not like he doesn't have 2 or 3 other houses to stay in while his project is complete.

Although I disagree with the whole rich people thing, I commend him for helping the environment in that way.

This is great, but why does it have to be just one rich celebrity, that in all honesty (no matter how much you admire him as an actor or the movies he appears in), does not matter.
Shouldn't this be a large scale movement, and yeah yeah i know atleast someone that CAN do this IS doing it, but i dont know - seems almost empty to me,
but awesome start and great for the enviroment, i'm all for it!
-
can i move in please ?

Too bad we all aren't ultra rich and famous so we could afford green power solutions and get great press coverage for it at the same time.

yeah, if i had a few hundred thousand available for that instead of paying my income taxes and property taxes and food bills, i'd green my house to that extent, too!!!!
so he did it. nice inspiration. that inspiration plus a few hundred thou can do it for me, too.
that inspiration without the money and nothing happens.
ok, johnny, now that you've done your pad, what's next?
hm? -
What a great way to live on an island!

Buying your own island is the beginning of the end for actors, look at Brando.
