Fire destroyed Weston-Super-Mare pier, restoration coming soon
The owner has vowed to "work tirelessly to restore" the structure, and said that, unsurprisingly, they were 'absolutely devastated" by the blaze.

I disagree. I believe Pac Man was injured in the blaze.

Wow, reminds me of when Brighton pier got burnt down. Sad, these old wooden piers...
-
All those classic arcade games burnt to a crisp... noooo!
And the Grade II listed pier, of course. I hope they try and rebuild it in its original, classic style rather than build a new, modern ugly pier that looks like a leisure centre on stilts. Yeah, I'm looking at you here Herne Bay Pier.

The Herne bay pier/roller rink is great. The old one was boring, it would have taken ages to walk down, and for what? No rollerskating, that's for sure. Bloody Victorians.
-
I just hope it wasn't some teenager that did it for his idea of a good laugh.
I wish they would not be so ignorant of their history...
-
noooo... what about whack- a -mole?!
It's such a shame! -
I don't know eh, pier today, gone tomorrow

Clem Wilson - Current TV staff editor etc - grew up in Weston super Mare, England. She spent many happy childhood hours playing on the Grand Pier. She will be very upset about the fire. Maybe she will do a video about it.
