In June 2008, Marcelo da Luz began a 10,000 mile journey in his homemade solar car, the Xof1. Over the next 2 weeks, da Luz and his small crew faced down floods, police, and fatigue in their quest to break the world distance record. They may have inspired a couple people, too.

Solar Energy is more than enough to power the whole world over. It, along with wind and wave, are the only sustainable forms of energy.

    Ironically cars are not sustainable.

This pod is inspiring. (cops piss me off some times)

    Thanks.

Marissa, great program and a great journey. So unfortunate you guys couldn't document the whole adventure. I look forward to hearing what becomes of the Xof1.

Great work. You found an interesting character. Be sure that your character's voice is the most prominent item in your sound mix - especially if some may have difficulties understanding their unique speech pathology. I got lost a few times trying to hear what he was saying.

Fantastic. I can't believe this was so grassroots, and I believe it's about to become really big! Congratulations on a successful journey and props to you for your vision and manifestation!!! Thanks for taking care of our planet and being so courageous!

Los que tratan el tema dia a dia saben de verdad hasta donde es posible llegar, y de qué podemos prescindir. Este es un claro ejemplo de ello y no es un proyecto de intereses. Equipo.. sois unos soles, como decimos en España. Adelante

The interviews with people along the route signifies what the "real"people of this country want.

Which is not what corporate America wants them to sell them -Big gas guzzlers.

This story is strange, but very inspiring. I've never had the guts to run off and do something I knew nothing about. It's nice to see a real life story of people taking a risk, and succeeding in their endeavor.

If there are so many that supported their run by helping when they were on the side of the road and in Minnesota, then why do we not have more people driving solar cars? We need to have solar cars mainstream! This is extremely awesome that they are proving the distance that this solar car can go!

    Marissa and Evan,

I really enjoyed your video as well as the follow up commentary. The piece itself was edited quite nicely and I loved the storyline throughout. A very interseting piece on a very important topic. Great job. What's next?

Great job! I hope you're able to find a sponsor to finish the film / document the final leg in Inuvik. I'd give you some money if I weren't broke and in Taipei... (Maybe you should set up a PayPal donation page and see if you can get enough small donations to make it happen!)

PS: I like the part with the dog.

This project offers hope for all of still believe that it's not too late---with concerted effort, we may be able to break the oil habit. These two filmmakers have done their part; I hope to hear more from them.
