Surfing Stops Disease

Humanitarian aid organization SurfAid International has opened the first stage of the Quiksilver SurfAid Community Health Training Centre at Katiet, in the Mentawai Islands, off Indonesia's West Sumatran coast.

The centre, which has been funded by the Quiksilver Foundation, has been designed by leading organic agriculturalist, Brendan Hoare.

Join musician and surfer Ry Cumming as he travels to this impoverished country.

    I thought this was a good, positive idea and will look into it and maybe I can do something to help. It's a relief to see good, genuine people doing what they can to help the world, even if it's just a little corner of the world.

    I was curious about the myspace link for Ry, too...why doesn't it work?

    SurfAid is amazing. Who better to understand the problems tucked away in random corners of the earth than the surfers who see them first hand. If only surfaid would people go with them. Ry- you are amazing

    I really admire people with this kind of lifestyle; do things they are passionate about, travel around the world, gaining new experiences and help other people at the same time. Not having to worry about mortgage and be stuck in an office doing a 9 to 5 thing just so you can pay the bills. What a life!
