Oh we got yr "times are a changin'" right here, Lord!

Cody Chesnutt has joined the slightly disturbing fray of musicians writing folk-hero worship songs about Barack Obama.

For us, these songs have become less inspiring and more scary in the passing months—just because they seem to hinge some John Henry-level hopes on a cat who, let’s face it, will be reeeally busy a.) playing Jenga with G-Dub’s screw-ups and b.) double-talking in order to get this “unified,” cooperative-party nation he’s banking on. It’s not likely he’s gonna be able to pave this country’s streets with gold, leave booty-shakin’ video chicks, ripe for your pickin’, in his wake when his cavalcade comes to your town, provide your children’s children’s children with free education and high-paying jobs, dap you up like he did Michelle just because you’re within ten feet of him after one his State of the Union addresses, *and* end the war.

It’s just too much pressure, okay? Set the bar a little lower. Stop praying to him like he’s a deity. Stop writing encomiums about his goodness.

He’s not a fable, celebrities. He’s just a man of sinew and bone.

But we’ll see, right? And, as Obama himself never ceases to remind us, there’s nothing wrong with having really high, almost delirious, vapor-catching Hope.

Anyway, pedestal-placing aside, the song, called "AfrObama" >> http://www.zshare.net/audio/1356292293d434e1/
