And we all know soup kitchens are just a temporary solution. So who’s out there *really* working to get rid of it?

The innovative nature of some people, is totally amazing...With the help of those who are altruistic and care about the less fortunate, many solutions for the hungry are possible. It's astounding how much waste there is from day to day in America. Things are tightening up even more now that our economy is in trouble, so consider that we will see more people going hungry and homeless than ever before...
I'm impressed with the effort that all of these people and the people around the world are putting into helping those in need of food, clothing, and a place to stay.
Good post, asha...thank you for your effort also...

Good production, subjects, soundtrack, Ashab! I would like to see Current air this in its entirety. Don't let anyone tell you this issue is "played." I say play on!

Another great POD...
Keep it up! -
Thank You!

Eat less meat for Humanity's sake.
And also, it's pods like these that really make current worth coming too. Thank you so much.
The future is a bright one if we organize and educate ourselves.

I went to DC Central Kitchen. Everyone that works there was homeless at some point and they teach cooking classes. It was huge and the place. Many after school programs receive food from there. Excellent pod.

Thank you for highlighting our organization in such a fantastic way.

wow. It is amazing what solutions we can come up with if people are creative and care about one another. I was shocked by the statistics-especially that single mothers are the highest group of those going hungry-I, too, would've said children.
The urban myth about not passing food on to the hungry needs to be debunked-nationally!
Bo's story was so very touching; especially combined with the information about the success he has found. What an inspiration he can be to other "wanna-be gangsters". DCC may not be able to solve the problem of hunger, but thank God they are making the effort. Keep it up! -
America! Where the rich are skinny and the poor are FAT.

Great pod, nice work! I don't understand how we call ourselves "civilized" and let this kind of human suffering here and abroad to continue. Sad,sad, sad.

I really like this pod. I volunteered at Glide Memorial about a month ago and was surprised to find out that majority of the food that they served was donations by businesses that couldn't use it. It's great to see food that would normally go to waste go to someone that really needs it.

when i worked in a grocery store i was disgusted by how much perfectly good food they throw away. When i spoke up they told me that because of liability reasons they could not donate the food. Bull shavism!
Great pod, good job

This is probably one of the better pods I've seen on Current.com.
Amazing Job!
-
I voluteered in a "kitchen" for over a year and learned that a little effort can go a long way if you know how to organize and make solid contacts.
A truly worthy pod for airtime. -
Why isn't this piece on TV?
If Current doesn't want it - try somewhere else...please!
