Who better to play the part than Hillary Clinton? The phrase "now the fun begins" still haunts Obama supporters to this day.

Though I understand why he needs her I just do not think that Obama should choose her for V.P. The attacks were too personal. Can you imagine what it may be like if they were to be side by side in the office? It'll be a mad house.

It would be a bad move on his part if he does select a woman, because his candidacy will look like the Affirmative Action candidacy. He has steered clear of affirmative action because he has benefited from it.
It would be nice if he could get someone like Clinton, with mob ties; as they have eliminated opponents and close critics of theirs in the past. However, I believe Hillary has too much b@lls, so to speak, to become Obama's running mate. In addition, you will have cat fights between Bill and Michelle.
-
i kind of figure he will pick Hillary

What better way to express real change than to have Senator Clinton as the VP?
She was, and is, my first choice for her valuable experience and qualifications.
I can think of no better show of force in the Democratic Party to make damn sure Senator McCain does not win.
Right now, that is the most important factor. -
I would be surprised if he does.
-
Hello, Kathleen Sebelius (D - KS)
She's an attractive woman, who has done rediculously well in an overly republican state.
+ no baggage.

I suppose she would make a good VP, but she's pretty corrupt.
A place in the cabinet might be ok, but I dunno about VP.
We'll see what he decides.
-
I think she would have him killed were she to be the VP and him the President. Its not like the Clintons arent corrupt.
-
Wrong, wrong, wrong...the election is likely to come down to swing voters. People who lean left and/or are avowed Democrats are not going to vote for McCain. The only constituents who Hillary appeals to are people who fit in this category. Obama would not be adding votes to his ballot by choosing her. What he needs, regardless of gender or race, is a person who is consistent with his own ideals, but also someone that will be more likely to appeal to moderate conservatives.
Much of Obama's platform is based on the concept of unity. Hillary presents an unneccessary source of division even within her own party.-

@GavinTheMother....
thank you for that breath of sense.....
yes! hillary, for all many of you love her, waged a campaign that wasn't exactly the high point in history for strategy and demeanor.
a moderate, maybe slightly older male might be a better choice.
VPs don't have lots of clout once they're in office, but the goal of the election process is to get ELECTED.
i think H would be more of a detriment than a benefit to the ELECTION results, no matter how much you like or liked her.
-
I agree with Gavin and plusaf. Senator Clinton can help Obama get elected and she can be an important part of how he governs if he is elected (in many ways...but the one I like best is Supreme Court Justice). But Vice President isn't the place for her for all the reasons they outlined, plus one more. Bill Clinton. No President should have to lead the country under that shadow (especially in these days). He's just too unpredictable...as he proved during the primaries.
-
I think she has to much baggage from the past and represents the past as well. I am hoping Obama will move beyond the past and move into a better future because as we know the past has been devastating to America. The way Wahington and the PAC'Ss and special intrests have been operating need to change. Obama has vowed to change this and to do this he has to distance himself from some of the old politicians and thier ways of doing business.

BAAAAD idea!
Throughout this primary cycle, Hillary showed herself to be an amoral sociopath, desperate for power at any costs. She and Bill played every Karl Rove trick in the book. Her campaign was marred by dysfunction, back-stabbing, gossip, etc.
She sits in stark contrast to all the progressive ideals that Obama stands for. Maybe the pragmatist in Obama will lead him to pick Hillary, but I can only hope he'll be more optimistic than that, and reach for someone sane, competent, and level-headed - like Bill Richardson or Jim Webb. Even someone uninspiring like Kathleen Sebelius would be better than a total psycho like Hillary Clinton.
Obama - keep your integrity. Don't do it. Just don't.

if it helps Obama win,
so be it.i miss bill clintons red nose anyway!!!
-
It will not help Obama win and he will need to hire a food taster.
-
it WILL help Obama win, as 40 percent of hillary supporters are so alienated by Obama that they're thinking about voting for McCain- ARE YOU PEOPLE INSANE?!?!?!?
Hillary was the best choice. Hands down.
What's that quote again.... something like "anyone who is able to secure the presidency is unfit for the position."
I guess this is proof that I'm right.
-
No, Hillary was not the "best choice, hands down". She was a desperate lying sociopath.

Picking Hillary is the only way I would even remotely consider voting for Obama. That would be the only way to show he cares more about the party than his own press releases. She got more votes, she belongs on the ticket. And with the economy as bad as it is right now, what better advisor could you possibly have than Bill Clinton.
-
Ah John. You are the one putting personality over party. The fact that you would tie your vote to the selection of the vice president only proves that (amazing how Hillary is the only choice he could make to satisfy you). And she did not get more votes...are you really dragging that back out? Sad.
-
What besides personality does the junior Senator have to offer? Leadership? Look what he's doing the party platform. We're against off shore drilling, oh wait well we'll consider it. We will never support FISA, well, OK, I guess we will sure. Obama is the most spineless candidate I have ever seen. And the most shameless, whenever he "refines" a position, he then just pretends his previous position doesn't exist! Completely enabled by the media of course. Of course she got more votes, but Howard Dean and Donna Brazile had other ideas, so they just deleted that little bit of history. But nevermind, you're going to support Obama no matter what he does. He could make Putin or Amedinajad VP and you would be cheering him on for building bridges.
-
Please. You want to explain how you get to her having more votes while counting the caucus states (or do all states NOT count now). You are the one making it up as you go along.
I've asked you this before John and you've failed to answer. Do you really think that Clinton wouldn't have turned to the center had she won the nomination? If so, what makes you think that exactly? Her vote FOR the war in Iraq? Maybe it was her vote FOR the Kyle/Lieberman amendment? Or was it the shot and the beer?
Voting out of spite is stupid.
-
Obama has made an an extraordinary amount of progress in his relatively short time in the senate. You can't call Obama "shameless" when he's constantly veered away from negative ad hominem campaigning and kept focused on issues and facts. Against Hillary Clinton, he was relatively angelic compared to her Rovian tactics.
Here's more about his achievements.

Absolutely pathetic to see Obama groupies re-treading the same old tired lies the neo-cons have been trying to spread about Bill Clinton for years. Looks like the neo-cons really did win after all, they got you all spewing the same garbage about Bill they made up years ago. So who is the "true" Democrat here again?
-
I love how out of one side of your mouth you claim Obama supporters are blind to his faults, but out of the other side you can't see a single tarnish on Bill Clinton's gold plated image. Obama is not perfect. Bill Clinton is very far from perfect. But a "true" Democrat wouldn't consider voting for John "Bomb Iran" McCain just because Hillary Clinton lost. Justify it any way you want...
-
Clearly Obama is not perfect that's why he has to choose a stable steady moderate for a candidate. Hillary does not get him that. She only gets his the more liberal female vote which he really should get anyways in the end. It IS the swing vote and people are not too happy with Washington insiders and they certaintly are tired Clinton antics.
I still think Wesley Clarke has the integrity and the miliatry experience.. but he won't go for him.
