It is just sad and insane that something like this was invented and produced in the first place. It is absolutely crazy and will do nothing whatsoever to protect women from emotional AND physical harm, so it is a waste of money and time.

Wow, this product is really old. I mean REALLY old. This article, I believe, is one I posted when I first came to Current, last year or so? It originally came out to help African women who are experiencing attacks so frequently that they are sometimes afraid to even leave their homes to go work or get food. Its sad that as a race some of us are so calloused that we prey on each other with no regard to how the other person feels. Its a sad state of affairs, but serious empowerment for women who face rape on a daily basis. I say we ship these by the truckload to Darfur and see who comes away scarred then.

A lot of the same sort of devices were invented in the Victorian era (and I'm willing to bet the Medieval times as well), but they were as likely to badly wound the woman wearing them. They also had devices that worked by a similar concept for preventing teenage boys from masturbating. It is all quite disturbing.
