Time Agrees with Obama: "The Tire-Gauge Solution: No Joke"

I believe Barack could be at his best to counter McCain's low-ball distraction narratives with sound policy and science/economics. This could be a pressing point, especially considering the RNC has already begun running with it as a 'not serious' proposal.

I have to admit, I'm not all sunshine and puppy dog tails concerning some of Mr. Obama's recent voting ... but if he has to vote thusly to get into office, then I won't gripe.

    Voted UP.

heard the McCain minions attempt to make mincemeat of Obama's assertion that we could all save a lot of fuel if we would just keep an eye on our tire pressure.

McCain promptly got up there and attempted to discredit with a blanket statement-- something to the effect of --"we can't solve the energy crisis with tire gauges"...how stupid does McCain take us all for? He not only insults Obama, but he insults the American people with such a mindless retort to a good piece of advice from the Obama campaign.

Go talk to anyone who knows anything about cars, tires and fuel consumption and they will agree with what Obama actually SAID... not with what McCain turned this statement into, but this is just more of the Republican party demonstrating that they still believe in the power of deception, and the underlying supposition to that deception is their belief that the American people are all too stupid to understand the difference between what Obama actually said, and what McCain attempted to turn that statement into.

McCain has proven once again that he doesn't have a clue. "Don't know much about...." economy, physics, winning wars, working for a private business, instead of sucking on taxpayer's teat his entire life. What a sad angry old fool!

Maybe we should help make this little RNC snicker point a big mistake. There are many serious yet simple ways we can help in saving our planet. Using a tire gauge is only one of them. This is simply turning a negative into a positive. Sen. Obama could illustrate Sen. McCain's ignorance by making the tire gauge a symbol of his campaign. Everyone attending a rally in support of Sen. Obama should bring them with them. How about making it a symbol of our enviromental movement. Checking your tire pressure will not solve the situation we've put ourselves into, it's just one of the many small and simple ways that help. There isn't one big solution, just a whole bunch small one's that add up. Basically the RNC is laughing at all of us. It is hard for them to comprehend the little people standing up and shaking their fist in the face of "Big Oil". Focus and vote.

Senator McCain's campaign machine is rolling out the idea that Senator Obama's lack of leadership experience "crudely" translates to ignorance and naivety.
Bluestranger may be on to something, turning the tire gauge thing against the RNC by using it as a symbol for something much, much bigger,...the World's future.
    I like the notion.

I can't believe anyone is supporting the Republican party. Even the most cursory glance at their stance on real issues leaves them so far out of touch it is frightening. Seems to me there are two kinds of Repubs; 1 To ignorant to follow the corruption 2 To rich to give a shit about anyone but their own bank account.

It is critical to this election that Obama continue to stick to policy and show McCain's ignorance and arrogance. The time wasted on the Paris Hilton stuff and other trivial &)&^^*^(*&)( was nonsense.

I increased our average mileage from 21 MPG all the way up to 26 MPG by increasing the tire pressure to the maximum allowable SAFE tire pressure. Remember to take into account a 6 PSI differential for HEAT and the differential for altitude, if you live in a high altitude region.
The last tankful produced a phenomenal 27.3 MPG! Mind you, this is on a 1996 Pontiac Bonneville with 130,000+ miles on it and the added weight of a wheelchair and other heavy medical equipment in the trunk.
    So this method works.
Irregardless of the politics behind all of this BS, we can as a people, make a change as individuals.

I remember going on road trip after road trip with my dad when I was a kid. He was always extremely anal about tire pressure, checking it every time he filled up at the pump. Nevertheless, he saved a lot of money on gas.

I think here McCain is forgetting that it is the small things that count (as well as the big ones) for your average consumer. Replacing incandescent bulbs with those that are fluorescent, carpooling, and yes, checking tire pressure all add up to some significant savings for our pocketbooks and the environment. This just shows how out of touch he is your average person.

McDrain's answer... a 300 million dollar prize for a better car battery. WTF? A prize? Why not invest that money in green industry instead of playing our enviroment as if it were a lotto. Guy needs a reality check.
