Apparently a 1938 issue of Popular Science included an article on a new procedure that Brooklyn nurses had been using to help preventing new-born mix-ups, branding the babies' skin with their initials using a 'hand-type ultraviolet-ray lamp.'

Were baby mix ups that big of a problem in 1938? Or was that before they invented writs bands?

Yea, the little tikes really enjoyed that little device burning their initials into their ass.

Damn! Why is it that the nurses outfits are always so sexy!!! Rarrrrr! Now days after giving birth you wouldnt catch a mom taking a picture in a robe either. Gotta look like your fresh as ever!
-
What happened if two babies had the same initials?
-
I guess a bracelet would have been too obvious.

I just love the picture. Why does the mother look like she is in love with the nurse who is branding her baby like cattle with a very determined stare?
