Over 10,000 citizens attend historic protest in Washington DC, news stations absent!
"Ten thousand people united in solidarity for a common cause, a common dream, can be an impressive and inspiring sight. As a realist who pays attention to the details, I usually find myself bereft of hope that people are going to wake up and realize their civil liberties are being legislated out of their hands while they were busy watching Dancing with the Stars and washing it down with some Fox News. But I just saw ten thousand people marching down Constitution Ave in our nation's capital, gloriously and enthusiastically wielding their love of the idea of American freedom. Twenty-first century citizens connected to the passions of eighteenth century revolutionaries, while brandishing banners demanding political policy reform, an end to a war, and the impeachment of a president. And one more thing: an end to the media blackout of Ron Paul. I stood on a stage holding my guitar, steps from the Capital building, and watched in spellbound silence an endless parade of people marching towards me much like the Iraq war, with no end in sight, shouting the name of their advocate, and ready to make some noise."

I was there and it was awesome!!!! To see a large number of people actually able to make it to DC during our econimic crisis shows the determination of American citizens to have their rights recognized. The revolution will only grow stronger regardless of media blackouts. They cannot tottally ignore us forever.

I like Ron Paul...but what is this "either you are an American or a globalist" crap (as the speaker said in the video post where the girl has the American flag painted on her face)?
I say we make America #1 first, then we worry about the world.
That would make you an American Globalist.
That said, it is becoming ever more clear that the American way of life is suffering as we dilute it by doing business with nations that have a much lower quality of life than ours.
I'm not sure losing our civil liberties in fear of the "terrorists" is such a good thing either. Perhaps if we stop pissing off other countries, we won't have to worry about terrorists so much?

I hate this rhetoric about how if you're not for Ron Paul you're not for the constitution.
Last time I checked, old school Republicans were not constitutionalists and neither is vice versa true.
Especially ironic since Ron Paul says that the founders never wrote anything about the separation of church and state, first amendment much? What a fucking moron.
You can support the constitution and not want to vote for Ron Paul. Believe it or not, there are people who legitimately disagree with his policies. Just because he's honest doesn't mean he's right.
-
Yes, but I think people are just enamored with the fact that's he's honest in the current political climate.
The media blackout is kinda shady. Free (and fair and/or honest) press eh?

We should all take on the responsibility of syndicating these events when they happen. Mainstream media just subverts the truth of it anyway. It probably does more harm than good to have them report about it.
-
I think everyone in this thread focusing on Ron Paul needs to focus less on him and more on the substance of the protest. They're protesting for our liberty and in support of our constitutional rights and demanding a return to responsible government. And the media and the government were so scared shitless by it that there was a media blackout on a protest this massive in the heart of our capital.
-
Protest is good yet the Ron Paul sign is not good. I am from a generation of protesters and see that part as good.

Well what did you guys expect? Kucinich and Gravel had the same problem.
The media is corporate owned and unregulated, they hardly cover ANY protest. And if they do, they rarely cover it fairly.
-
Libertarianism claims many ideals, most of which are intangible and sloganish. Their core principal, end big government, is at the heart of all right wing ideologies. They claim to be against corporate influence, but, I am afraid, government regulation, ie 'big government' is the only thing that can reign in corporations. Their ideology is paradoxical and appeals to the unthinking.

the constitution gives each and every one of us exactly two choices: Congress or Convention.
if america is in a foxhole, the globalists advancing, and there are only two machine guns and one suddenly jams, who would argue against using the other?
the convention clause of article v has been painted as a huge monstrosity should enough of us ever demand it. all it is though, is an open discussion--to propose things the congress or the media never will.

Most of corporate media are right wing fascists!
Media 101 in college on the first day of class the first statement that comes out of my most excellent professor, " monopolies will be the death of a democracy!"
Figure it out my fellow Americans!

4th estate is on the far right writing what their owners will allow. Sickening and frightening yet true. I look for our news in other countries to find out what is really going on.

While the article is clearly a little slanted, it really isn't a new story that protests don't get enough coverage. I think part of the problem is the various forces of the newsroom- shrinking staff, Ron Paul fatigue and a lack of interest. But it is their duty to at least give a nod to such events, especially when so many people show up. With news organizations hurting as they are, much of the reporting duty is falling onto the citizens now, so as far as people stay involved the story can still get out there.
If you really want to see more coverage of protests, or really of anything, subscribe to a newspaper. Pay for your news-- do your part as a citizen-- instead of demanding results from the media without helping the situation yourself.

It has been my experience that most of the corporate media are left wing facists. The major media in this country are beholden to liberalism, not conservatism. There is no facism in true conservatism. Facism comes strictly from the tenants of liberalism, or control over peoples lives.
Ron Paul had no chance. He had no chance because he is not a globalist, is not in favor of predatory bureaucracies such as the Internal REvenue Service and thinks that the legislators in this country should govern according to the Contstitution. These views are intensly upopular to the existing government because it runs contrary to the tenants of statism or gov. power over the individual. Forget Republican vs Democrat. This is a liberal vs conservative issue and transcends parties.
Ron Paul was the only hope we had for "change" in the U.S. Comrade Obama and McCain are more of the same only worse. True conservatism is from the constitution and believes in the supremecy of the individual over the state. Liberalism believes the reverse.

NEIL YOUNG LYRICS
"Let's Impeach The President"
Let's impeach the President for lying
And misleading our country into war
Abusing all the power that we gave him
And shipping all our money out the door
Who's the man who hired all the criminals
The White House shadows who hide behind closed doors
They bend the facts to fit with their new stories
Of why we have to send our men to war
Let's impeach the President for spying
On citizens inside their own homes
Breaking every law in the country
By tapping our computers and telephones
What if Al Qaeda blew up the levees
Would New Orleans have been safer that way
Sheltered by our government's protection
Or was someone just not home that day?
Flip - Flop
Flip - Flop
Flip - Flop
Flip - Flop
Let's impeach the president for hijacking
Our religion and using it to get elected
Dividing our country into colors
And still leaving black people neglected
Thank god he's cracking down on steroids
Since he sold his old baseball team
There's lots of people looking at big trouble
But of course our president is clean.
Thank God

I am not really surprised that this did not garner national attention. Why would the news corps promote unrest and discontent?
Sadly, sometimes a wound does not hurt until you see the blood.
-
Americans showing their love for freedom is a good thing.
I applaud them.
The more Americans can learn to value their own liberty and freedom the better chance they will protect not only their own but liberty and freedom everywhere.
That would be a very welcome change.

What he wrote gave me goosebumps...
Amazing.
