1 in 5 Brits 'wish they were rockers'

A new poll by the O2 Undiscovered music programme has found that 20 per cent of us would like to ditch their jobs if it meant a shot at making it in the music industry. Builders, followed by doctors, reported the highest rate of wanting to make the switch.
And a word to education administrators:
"Three quarters of those surveyed said they had not been encouraged at school or by their parents to pursue a career in the music industry. Around half said there was not enough information about careers in the industry provided by schools."

I think being in a really good band could work for me but I wouldn't want the hassle of being the front man or anything like that. And drumming looks tiring so I'll give that a miss.

I just like to be one of the guys who walks on with the trumpets during Sigur Ros' Se Lest. All the fun of the carnival, but no need to worry about the rides working.

Only 1 in 5? Personally I would like to be one of the other blokes in Coldplay. Massive gigs, loadsa money and no fame.

Maybe I should just pretend I am and see where it gets me.

I don't wanna be a rocker, but I'd love to be world class DJ who gets to travel the globe playing to thousands of people every night!

Why in the world would anyone want a life of easy riches, comfort and fame? [sarcasm]

I've always liked the idea of playing in a band but after reading all this showbiz/musicbiz news I would really not like to be a big name rocker, with all the tabloids following me and having to go to fashion/money-obsessed parties and either die young go slowly into state of drug-induced premature senility... no thanks..
