Biggest model aeroplane in the world, bigger than most jets

Emirates airlines has built a 1/3rd sized model of their A380. The A380 is the largest airplane on earth, so you can imagine the model is as big as a plane. The model is embedded in cement along the the entrance to Heathrow, to entice passerbys to fly Emirates.

So they basically built an airplane, and forgot to put an engine in it.

It's a marketing scheme? I think it's an awful lot of time, money and effort for something that most people aren't going to appreciate. Sure, traffic going in and out of the airport is massive. But it's a plane. You'd expect to see planes there. I think they should have a gigantic statue of something a bit more memorable.

I just think that the policeman in the picture is exceptionally short.

I mean, why waste money on making a massive model plane, when you could just make a smaller one, get a short person to stand next to it, and then take your press shots. Easy peasy.

This is an brilliant exercise in wasting money

Is this why we in the UK now pay five pound a gallon for our petrol to subside these expensive advertisements?
