I think that this pod is interesting because it shows that people go too far with their actions towards animals that we eat. It is natural for humans to eat meat, but not to disgrace it. Like everything else in nature we should only take what we need and treat it with respect. But that doesnt mean we should take baby cows from their mothers, not even a day into life, and put them in boxes so they don't grow. That is NOT natural.

This video makes me sick to my stomach, and disgusted to be a human. These ARE living creatures and they CAN be treated with some dignity and respect if they are going to be killed. This video gets me out raged at how we treat animals as just things we consume. Sometimes I feel like the human race is just running down hill, full speed. Its remarkable that these people are allowed to get away with this. Is everyone that works here just morally dead?! WTF!!! Imagine watching this video from another sentient beings point of view... it makes us look like nothing more then simple savages the way we treat other living creatures. It kinda makes me just wanna puke.

I am glad current uses warnings for the animal cruelty stories. I really hate this video. Do the people that work in places like this, just hate themselves or what? Or do they not have a choice. Oh and since when have we been feeding "ashes of dead cows" to other cows? What the crap...This story is SO gross. I can't beleive it. I'm sure this is repeated in hog farms and chicken farms.
I have seen other stories about how nasty ground beef is, but this story really takes the cake. Now if i'm choking down a cheesburger i'm going to imagine some poor half dead cow being run over by a fork lift. Isnt there some sort of invasive weed or bush that we can feed cows? Thinking of this story, which i have only seen run once on Current, really pisses me off. Is that guy drowning that cow with a hose? Is he trying to get the cow to get up? Or just getting off on killing the cow? God damm.... this story. - 1 year ago

Unbelievable. Seriously makes me reconsider my US meat consumption. This is sick.
Is anyone else getting increasingly sickened by the crazy amount of sick things happening in our country: financial greed seems to win everything over.

Videos like this are helpful in changing people's minds about our meat industry. Being antagonistic, overbearing and obnoxious will do nothing but undermine your argument.

I find it interesting what arguments vegetarians have used in order "convert" or change omnivores' minds. There is a food chain. Other animals eat the meat of other animals and this is considered is okay. Humans are animals highest on the food chain. Our teeth are designed for and omnivorous diet. There are nutrients in meat that are necessary and vegetarians usually have to take supplements in order to provide for these. (Supplements are not "natural".) Most of the genetic and natural evidence points to humans being able to eat meat and that this action is a moral one. However, the treatment of these animals is not moral. It is not moral for humans to treat a living thing so cruelly. Rarely in nature will you ever find an animal treat its prey in this way. It is NOT natural to do this. It is not moral to feed other humans with meat that you know full well is probably tainted and may make them fall ill. That is immoral.
All that being said. I am a vegetarian nearing the transition to vegan. But I have made this choice for myself despite the fact that nature tells me it is okay. Until we as a species improve the way we make our meat, I will not be consuming it.

it's good for us to have an unhealthy food source such as this... eventually we will adapt to being able to eat meat thats been way past good. Maybe we'll even be able to eat like vultures some day. one can only hope right?

I can't help but think "Told you so. SOrt of serves you right." That said, I try to be less antagonistic..."What do you expect? You can't rob others of their freedom and lives and then complain when the flesh you eat from them is tainted. KHARMA!"
Go vegan!

Thanks for putting this up here, thanks for making this to tv. I stopped eating meat for basically two reasons:
1/ this type of inhumane treatment.
2/ knowing that our food supply is processed with sick cows who probably have mad-cow disease, and who knows what else.?
I wish video like this was played on msm every day!

I've known about the ongoing treatment for quite some time now, and the only plausible reason why this bahavior continues, is because of lack of coverage on local news. Information like this should be visible to the public eye, not swept under the carpet.

The only way to change this is for you, the consumer, to be outraged. Now that you know, have the conversation with a few other people. Buy local. Pass it on. The industry won't change if you silently keep buying.

This makes me wonder why people still look at meat like it's something that can be picked from trees, and boughten for a dollar at mcdonalds.

Reeseismyname:
i saw an interview with the author of "fast food nation" (I forget his name) he said according to CDC 1 fast food burger could be meat from 1000 different cows. Due to the HUGE vats of "trimmings" in the commercial packing houses that grind the burger meat. That's why when there is an E-Coli recall there are millions of lbs of meat recalled. It's not natural, it is gross, recipe for disaster. Know your butcher or your cattle grower. Most small mom and pop butcher shops i know have such a small amount of trimmings, they have to grind up "good stuff" to make hamburger meat, 4 or 5 pounds of hamburger could come from a single beef.

It's disturbing to watch. Although I have known about the prevalence of this mistreatment for many years, it never surprises me how upsetting it still is. Our health, our environment, our children and the animals with whom we co-exist suffer from factory farming. Your “dollar vote” counts … buy and support local, sustainable agriculture. We have a moral obligation to be good stewards of this earth. Think, before you buy..

buy local, know where all your food comes from. we need to bring back the old time butcher shop, dairy shop, bakery, etc. There are a lot of these type shops out there. Yes it's a little more expensive, but the video shows the alternative and why cheap meat is cheap.
